2019 RB Zach Charbonnet
We seem to be trending well with this 4* Calif. running back. He shows power, vision, agility and pretty good long speed. A lot to like.
I really want/wanted us to sign a pair of him and one of the following: Derrian Brown, John Emery, Steele Chambers, or Jarrion Ealy. My preference would be him and Steele Chambers or him and Brown. Either one of those pairings would be game changing.
Impressive acceleration, patience, lateral agility, balance, and will ocasionally truck dudes. Really gets north and south quick when he sees a seam for a bigger back. Not great top end speed and runs loose with the ball. Would like to see him drop the shoulder a little more often rather than relay so heavy on the lateral juke. Overall, underrated kid who I would love to see wear the winged helmet.
I think he'd pass all our backs in the 2018 and 2017 classes his freshmen season.
reminds me of Deveon Smith. Obv. a much different back in most other ways.
Charbonnet has excellent elusiveness/change of direction in traffic, and decent speed to take advantage of holes. He's going to get a lot of his yards on cutbacks rather than just running past everybody with pure speed.
He has a lot of shiftiness for a RB his size. Blazing speed is overrated for a RB, but he still ran away from people.
His high school reportedly hired Eric Dickerson as running backs coach.
