Shea leaving is a reach but that almost certainly means we had a great year so I'm cool with it. I think Hudson leaving would be a bit of a surprise. Both L. Hill and Bush could wind up sticking around due to size concerns limiting their draft placement. Its likely a fair number of that group leave but I doubt all 6 do. I'd say we are probably at 18-19 comfortably based off this post. The staff seems to be recruiting like they expect closer to 25 slots. 5-7 playing time transfers would be a high amount in my opinion but I guess maybe not.

I got blasted a while back for a similar post but I agree with you.

- Rashan's mom has a good career so they are not a family that needs the immediate cash.

- All through the recruiting process, she said that he would not automatically hop after 3 years

- Plenty of projected top 10 players return for one last season (look at Clemson's DLine)

In either case, I would never blame someone for making their life dreams come true and getting paid millions to do it.  He seems like a really bright kid and can always go back and get his degree afterwards (hell, if he gets drafted by the Lions, he could do it while he was playing in the NFL).

I was sure that OSU had overrecruited by like 10 players in 2017.  I even put together a Board post that Seth mercifully nuked (he had seen that kind of nonsense before).  The topic never came up and Urban was absolutely fine - probably some firm handshakes behind the scenes - but no story whatsoever.

Every team recruits with attrition built in - the coaches have a sense for the numbers.  If Shea is the starter and then comes back in 2019, Peters will probably do a 3 year grad transfer and I am sure every Michigan fan will understand and support him.  Either way, one of the two will be gone before the 2019 fall camp starts.

A handful of guys will get passed during the 2018 season by players younger than them, in addition to this monster 2019 recruiting class, and will request a transfer.  It is just the way it goes.

KJ Moody was originally going to greyshirt and arrive this winter, but with the recent attrition a spot opened up and he is officially on scholarship right now.

It will be important for Harbaugh to win 10 games to keep these recruits in the fold. If we have a 7 or 8 win season, some of these recruits may jump ship. 11 wins and Harbaugh will have some of the late 5 stars  wanting in.

I am sure some players will transfer. It only seems be news because it is Harbaugh.

I'm on a UofM vs. MSU trash talking group.   The big criticism  from MSU fans is that UofM recruits are rated too high, and that they get bumped up just because they are UofM recruits.   A lot of our recruits are going to get bumped up now simply because they are now going to get evaluated in more detail.  What say you?  Is the Michigan bump fair or unfair.  Do other schools get this bump?

A valid measure for the services to use is the volume and quantity of offers.  So if an analyst has a kid as a generic 3* and then the kid starts pulling in offers from Bama, Georgia, FSU, OSU, Michigan, etc... then of course the kid is going to get a bump to 4* status. It was one of the reasons that star ratings correlate (not cause) with winning games.

Dantonio is more like Beilein where he is a master of finding underrated players that fit his schemes.  He mixes in a few highly coveted recruits and he has competitive teams.  For some reason the analysts haven’t clued in that players identified by Dantonio should get another look.

So the answer is sort of yes and it actually makes sense.  But no they don’t get a bump just because they commit to Michigan - certainly didn’t help anyone from the 2018 class.

Giles Jackson is 100% in the crystal ball for Michigan. But at 5'8", 175, I can't see what position will play. He has fantastic skill numbers, there is no doubt. It seems he's be better off in the Pac 12. It sure seems like the BIG 10 would knock him about badly. But Michigan is "warm" after him. Jay H. must have something in mind. I guess.

I think if we have a great year we could push out 1-3 of the lower rated guys in favor of better options options.
