Especially for a true freshman.  And the guy only had 3 stars?  Imagine his numbers if he was a 4/5*

Kidding - I don't want the starz mafia after me.  I know they are indicative of future performance - in aggregate - but people put way too much emphasis on the ratings of individual players.

Barkley gets all the hype and is definitely very shifty, but it would not shock me if Karan ends up being the better pro. Karan really seems to just keep getting better and is very well rounded.

He never claimed "more well rounded than Barkley" just "very well rounded". There is no arguing Barkley is more of a receiving threat than Higdon at this time, but with a couple years to grow before the NFL that Barkley does not have, Higdon could certainly still make a big splash in the NFL .

Karan has obviously less carries but nearly equal yardage and more TDs on less opportunities. The passing and return exploits are not within the title of the thread. The number comparison was simply between the two as runners. It isnt barbed to Saquan. I think he's awesome. Used completely different than Karan. Karan has posted over 600 yards and 8 TDs since the MSU game. That is because he started accumulating more carries after the MSU game. Karan as a running back has done some great things with the uptake in usage. That is the merit of the post. Not saying Barkley is bad at all.

Karan has gotten big numbers against the bottom feeders of the big ten over the last month.  Barkley has played 3 of the top teams in the conference over the last month.

Wait until the end of the year to compare their rushing stats.  I'm sure Barkley will blow past Higdon since he gets Nebraska, Maryland, and Rutgers while Higdon gets Wisconsin and OSU.

To be fair, I don’t think the narrative was that Higdon is as good as Barkley. I don’t think anyone is that dumb. But the fact that Barkley is getting Heisman consideration and Higdon isn’t being talked about by anyone on a national level and the two of them have similar rushing stats is quite interesting.

To be fair, I think its quite interesting to somwhat interesting for MGoBloggers. It is getting sorta-kinda-wait-and-see interesting for B1G fans. I think it is mostly uninteresting nationally because rushing numbers only, and Barkley is #3 in B1G and Higdon #4 and #35th nationally (again, rush yards only).

The post was about the rushing stats. Karan doesn't return kicks or get check down throws to validly compare the other areas. He does average a yard more than Saquan and has more rushing TDs than him on 33 less carries. Saquan is the Heisman frontrunner so Karan posting comparable or favorable rushing stats to him is suggestive that Michigan has something pretty special.

Odd to say, but we have a much better runblocking OL than PSU does. Barkley gets absolutely swamped on most of his carries. When he is given space he's electric. But he is seldom given space.

Even against us, he had the one play we got beaten on, and he had some receiving opportunities against McCray... and that was about it.

Penn State's passing game is the difference.

It's crazy to think that Michigan's potentially most productive back in the last decade is one of Harbaugh's first recruiting splashes after just a month on the job-- recruited through a blizzard if I'm not mistaken.  Quite the recovery from losing Weber to OSU.

Go Karan! Go Blue!

Nearly 70% of his rushing yardage and 50% of his carries have come against Indiana, Rutgers, and Minnesota.

Although I will admit, it makes you wonder if he had gotten 20 carries against MSU if we would have beaten them.

This post should have a disclaimer that you were his mentor/coach in high school.  He has had a great 3 weeks, but come on man.
