You're wrong.
The kid from Wisconsin (Jonathan Taylor) has the best numbers in the conference. He has 1,368 yards at 7.2 YPC and 12 touchdowns.
November 6th, 2017 at 1:44 PM ^
Especially for a true freshman. And the guy only had 3 stars? Imagine his numbers if he was a 4/5*
Kidding - I don't want the starz mafia after me. I know they are indicative of future performance - in aggregate - but people put way too much emphasis on the ratings of individual players.

when I read this. I love the starz mafia reference also. Good shit

do well in BIG do to offensive line play. Then, when they get in PRO's, they do not do as well as expected. To be fair, years ago, the same could be said for Michigan RB's.
November 6th, 2017 at 2:36 PM ^
Melvin Gordon has done pretty well. Corey Clement, while not nearly as good, had a good game last weekend. and James White is a major piece of the New England offense. I say, they've done okay.
November 6th, 2017 at 4:20 PM ^
In the last 25 years they have had two running backs make Pro Bowl, but always seem to lead the B1G in rushing. Again, not taking anything away from players, but the Wisconsin Oline is generally one of the strenghts of team year in and year out.
November 6th, 2017 at 3:03 PM ^
And the Rutgers faithful completely lost their shit when he decommitted from Rutgers and committed to Wisconson. Sorta like Saquan Barkley did but with Penn State
November 6th, 2017 at 11:47 PM ^
He could possibly have as many yards.
November 6th, 2017 at 1:13 PM ^
He is clearly underrated - but you need to include receiving stats if you want to do a comparison of the impact of the two gents on their offense.
November 6th, 2017 at 1:19 PM ^
Don't forget the KO return TD against Ohio
November 6th, 2017 at 1:37 PM ^
he had one against Indiana I think too.

This is typical Inman garbage. No thought, no explanation, just vague claims. I really like what Kurt Taylor is doing in practice and he might, probably, could end up being a better pro than Barry Sanders.

Michigan, that's how. You do realize that it's Inman saying this.

We've found Matt Millen!
November 6th, 2017 at 1:28 PM ^
The NFL is a passing league, and Barkley appears to be a much better pass catcher than Higdon. But damn that was a hot take.
November 6th, 2017 at 2:32 PM ^
Barkley also a much better passer!
November 6th, 2017 at 1:14 PM ^
Barkley has played UM, OSU, and MSU in the past three weeks.
Higdon has played PSU, Rutgers, and Minnesota.
November 6th, 2017 at 1:19 PM ^
yeah barkley has 500 yards recieving w 3 recieving TDs. also 400 return yards and 2 return TDs.
November 6th, 2017 at 1:22 PM ^
Plus you know Barkley is gonna have video game numbers against Rutgers, Maryland, and maybe even Nebraska.

Karan has gotten big numbers against the bottom feeders of the big ten over the last month. Barkley has played 3 of the top teams in the conference over the last month.
Wait until the end of the year to compare their rushing stats. I'm sure Barkley will blow past Higdon since he gets Nebraska, Maryland, and Rutgers while Higdon gets Wisconsin and OSU.

To be fair, I think its quite interesting to somwhat interesting for MGoBloggers. It is getting sorta-kinda-wait-and-see interesting for B1G fans. I think it is mostly uninteresting nationally because rushing numbers only, and Barkley is #3 in B1G and Higdon #4 and #35th nationally (again, rush yards only).

Odd to say, but we have a much better runblocking OL than PSU does. Barkley gets absolutely swamped on most of his carries. When he is given space he's electric. But he is seldom given space.
Even against us, he had the one play we got beaten on, and he had some receiving opportunities against McCray... and that was about it.
Penn State's passing game is the difference.
November 6th, 2017 at 1:21 PM ^
It's crazy to think that Michigan's potentially most productive back in the last decade is one of Harbaugh's first recruiting splashes after just a month on the job-- recruited through a blizzard if I'm not mistaken. Quite the recovery from losing Weber to OSU.
Go Karan! Go Blue!
November 6th, 2017 at 3:54 PM ^
Weber currently has 60 attempts for 275 yards (4.58) and 5 TDs. The Higdon > Weber jokes aren't even questionable anymore. He is much better.
November 6th, 2017 at 1:27 PM ^
Nearly 70% of his rushing yardage and 50% of his carries have come against Indiana, Rutgers, and Minnesota.
Although I will admit, it makes you wonder if he had gotten 20 carries against MSU if we would have beaten them.
November 6th, 2017 at 1:55 PM ^
the rushing game was still stubbornly trying to be a zone offense
November 6th, 2017 at 2:08 PM ^
12 carries for 65 yards with a long of only 12 yards. I think if he gets 8 more carries we could have at least gotten in field goal range one more time.
