2016 Home Game Promotions Announced
While checking MGoBlue.com today I came across the list of promotions and giveaways for this season's home games.
Below are the announced promotions for the season opener against Hawaii:
• Honorary Captain -- Michael Jordan
• Flyover -- Two USAF aircraft from the 435th Fighter Training Squadron and 169th Fighter Wing will conduct the flyover at the conclusion of the national anthem. The two lead pilots -- Lt. Col. Michael "Vito" Ferrario and Lt. Col. Jason "Ugly" Earley -- are 1996 U-M College of Engineering graduates.
• Michigan Marching Band Halftime Show -- "The Recruit" - with some help from a good friend, the MMB uses some unique methods to recruit a five-star piccolo player.
• Big Ten Championship Recognition -- Michigan men's cross country and women's track and field will be recognized for winning Big Ten championships.
Of note for the rest of the season (http://www.mgoblue.com/promotions/fbl-gameday.html):
- There will be a parachute jump into the stadium for the UCF and Wisconsin game.
- Announced Honorary Captains: MJ (Hawaii), Rich Eisen (UCF), Bobby Kotick (Colorado), Hank Aaron (Illinois),
- There appears to be no Pom Poms planned, as I know this is a source of great debate on the MGoBoard.

Is all of this really necessary?
Home Michigan football games speak for themselves. I guess we can at least sleep soundly that there will be no sky writing over East Lansing.

This is all pretty tame compared to a certain previous administration, but yes ideologically I think most of us would agree with this sentiment. The main thing for me is minimizing the amount of piped in music before and during the game, though it became clear last year that Harbaugh likes a certain amount of Dad Rawk which I guess I can tolerate.

that this will be the year we can start having every home game atmosphere to be like a mini super bowl. God I'm so happy Dave Brandon is gone....

I would settle for some skywriting over EL after the game. Make the sky one giant scoreboard, so every time a MSU fan opens their mouth, we just have to point up.
Epic. Almost as epic as running on the field and tackling the tuba player who "dot's the I"

We've taken a step in the right direction.
This reminds me more of the games I went to as a child and teenager and not so much of an afternoon at ZapZone.
EDIT: Snark aside, I never minded fireworks or highlighter yellow, but I appreciate the 'back-to-basics' idea at work here.

Not happy about no pom poms for a big game.
Even if they annoy you or you personally don't like using them (fair enough), they objectively make the stadium look 100% better.

Very, very interesting that the Wisconsin Marching Band is making the trip all the way to Ann Arbor, did not expect that.
I really hope this means that we will make a return marching band trip next year.
Tired of bands coming to us, but us not being allowed to return or simply not going (i.e. Penn State in the past, but not this year apparently).
