2012 Michigan recruits anonymous thoughts on recruiting ($)
Amusing article ($) from TomVH where he gets 2012 recruits anonymous opinions on the recruiting process and their knowledge about Michigan:
http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/colleges/michigan/post/_/id/873/recruit…
The most hilarious one:
Other than Michigan where did you have the best visit experience?
One person said: "Michigan State was the worst"
Also, the "weirdest things heard throughout recruitment" is pretty funny.

I can't afford it, so I'll wait a while, then laugh accordingly.

Thanks for linking a paywalled article where I can't see anything expect the content you've copied and pasted. Tremendous thread.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:38 AM ^
Yeah, and I don't think paid subscribers are coming to Mgoblog to find out what new Michigan articles ESPN Insider has published.
December 21st, 2011 at 12:04 PM ^
Actually you are wrong. The only reason I signed up for Wolverine Nation was because of TonVH. Let me tell you, the site is nowhere near what MGoBlog is. I spend very little time there. I am always on ths site.
December 21st, 2011 at 1:22 PM ^
I have a sub. just to read TomVH's stuff, but spend most of my time here. Now I'll check out that link....

This response made me laugh out loud here at my desk. Check out the moderator thread - as 74polSKA pointed out, there must be something in the MGoEggnog today.

You all complaining about the paywall need to quit bitching...there are a lot of posters on MGoBlog that have access on ESPN.com due to TomVH's still very good info.
And those whining about money. I see a thread on this board EVERY week about getting a YEAR subscription to ESPN.com for $4, $10, $12 or whatever special someone found.
Seriously $4 for a YEAR? I paid $12 for mine...I could spare the $1 a month, especially when mine comes with 32 issues of the Magazine that I rarely read but enjoy leaving in the bathroom for when I need to handle business.

....all walls fall, even paywalls. Of course, man must first overcome the need to acquire wealth.
I could afford to become a member, but being the frugal bastard that I am, I'll wait until there's some free information, thanks.
POSTSCRIPT: My otherwise grinchy heart grew 3 sizes for TomVH during this corporate presentation I am in and I am setting up my subscription now.

A dangerous move to write a "what he said" response with ^^ and not do it as a reply to the post you are referencing. You never know who might come along and insert a comment like "TurtleBoy is an idiot" above your comment.
December 21st, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
TurtleBoy isn't an idiot.
He's a good TurtleBoy.
Pay no attention to section thirty 8, TB.
He's just jealous.

I concur.

espn insider is 4 bucks for a year if you buy the mag on a deal, you guys can sacrafice one bigmac meal or whatever you fill your pie holes with to read it ;)

Elitist...
December 21st, 2011 at 10:46 AM ^
who can afford $4 per year???

The shell is a friggin Dorito....I can't believe we're in a recession with innovative thinking like that. Now my dream is to have a cheesy gordita crunch with the dorito shell inside....

are a beautiful thing. Once you realize them you get to go out and get another one. Here's hoping your new dream doesn't require a lot of Beano or air freshners.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:49 AM ^
tastes better. I would rather spend my four bucks on that.

With the other thread about bacon, and this thread about burgers, I'm thinking a Baconator Double sounds pretty good right about now.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:44 AM ^
that article seems really really interesting. I ordered my ESPN subscription about a month ago and haven't gotten anything yet, so it's kinda pissing me off since I want to see this one.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:04 AM ^
The same thing happened to me as well. However, I somehow found a way to activate my insider before my first mag came. If I remember correctly, I went to ESPN Insider's site, tried to activate my account, they just asked for my info, figured out I was a subscriber, and gave me access. Worth a shot.

It worked for me as well.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:06 AM ^
If you call espn's hotline, they will give you your activation number before you actually start getting the magazine.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:46 AM ^
Thanks for nothing. If I am a subscriber, I have already seen the article and this is a waste of a link for me. If I am not, then this is even a bigger waste of a link since it gets me nowhere. Thanks again.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:08 AM ^
I have a subscription and don't read (or even check) everything that comes out. I only found out about this via twitter.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
No need to bash the OP. Agree or disagree, no problem, but keep it friendly.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:51 AM ^
Seriously....trying to direct a little traffic/business for Tom is ok in my book considering we all benefited off hit free content and hard work for his entire time here.
Some people should sit back and ask themselves "what the hell do I contribute here" other then looking for the first opportunity to bash someone for posting something. This blog has gotten a "country club" atmosphere by a few goobers that hang on this site 24/7.

He does have a "$" in the title. Lay off of him, he is just relaying an article about Michigan that he enjoyed. Unless I'm mistaken, linking to paywalled articles is not against board policy.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:57 AM ^
The OP handled it exactly right.
He linked to an interesting article, let us know it was paywalled, and gave us a few highlights without actually stealing content.
Stop bitching.

When somebody says stop bitching, they are bitching by definition....
Therefore, stop bitching.
Aww...dammit.

You are all being a bunch of little bitches this morning. Show some support for our former TomVH if you want. If not, shut the fuck up. Jeez.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:00 AM ^
WolverineNation...it is WELL worth it. Tom is obviously awesome but their articles are sometimes a tad fluffy. The weekly update makes it worth it for me. Plus I have a crush on Chantal Jennings ;)
December 21st, 2011 at 11:08 AM ^
chantel jennings = michigan's own erin andrews. except much younger and more awkward in front of the camera.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:49 AM ^
Gotta love cute, geeky Michigan alums. Of course I may be biased, I'm married to one.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:06 AM ^
i figure this is far enough down in the comments now that it's ok to share one of the questions and answers (hopefully not crossing any imaginary lines):
Can you name all three of Michigan’s Heisman trophy winners?
Yes – 1
No – 14
Everyone got two of them, only one knew Tom Harmon. One tried to Google it, but I heard the keyboard typing and caught him.
tom vh is still on top of his game.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
They haven't seen Harmon of Michigan?
December 21st, 2011 at 11:50 AM ^
I'm sure this is part of fall camp's movie night. They'll know by the time we play Alabama and they're a part of Team 133.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:29 AM ^
...and setting it up as I type. The reactions of recruits to Red Cedar Apartment Complex has to be classic, and far more entertaining than a presentation on regulatory relationships. Is it normal to have checked this far out at 11:30 AM on your last scheduled day of work for the year?
December 21st, 2011 at 11:34 AM ^
As great as Tom is, and he's the best insider in my mind, by far. But, by and large, Wolverine Nation, and ESPN insider as a whole, really sucks. I have a subscription, just out of my loyalty and respect to Tom. Other than that, it's been a utter disappointment.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:42 AM ^
is a little bit of a disappointment, but I like it overall. Some of the stuff is pointless though.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:38 AM ^
I don't have enough points to start a new thread, but thought some might be able to benefit from thi.
For current ESPN the Magazine subscribers, use this link to extend your subscription a year for $1. Can't beat that and apparently you can log in daily to extend it. TomVH news until 2042 for only $30? Where do I sign?
