2012 Defense

Submitted by Robbie Moore on
I'm watching the snow fall and have too much time on my hands since my appointments cancelled. So, I considered who the starting 11 on defense might be in 2012. Without further ado: DL: Roh, Campbell, Wilkins, Black LB: Furman, Robinson, Gordon S: Turner, Johnson CB: Dorsey, Christian Good? Here's hoping Fast? Very Big 10 Championship Caliber? I think so

That's a 4-3. I thought we we're running the 3-4. (Not sarcasm) Do you think Greg will change to the 4-3? I got Roh - Campbell - Lalota Bell - Furman - Fitzgerald - Robinson Turner - Dorsey - Emillien - Christian

Why did this kid get negged for this? While only a technicality, and as an aside I don't think we technically run a 3-4 or a 4-3, Brian has definitely agreed with me on this point, this kid is more right than the OP calling it 4 down lineman. It was certainly not worthy of him getting negged 4 times.

While I take your point, I don't think it is unreasonable to project that by 2012 you think Roh will have possibly filled out, put on weight, and been made more of a true DE. More than one person on this board, including Brian and other Mod's, have suggested that that may be his future.

I'm stocking up on canned goods, you know, plenty of non-perishables, maybe some ramen, and a portable generator. I'm also going to take some seed-bearing plants into my bunker so I can do my part to repopulate the Earth's forests. I can't forget paper, either, of both the toilet and writing varieties, so I can document the apocalypse from the subterranean porthole I've dug out.

So you're expecting us to play with three defensive ends (Roh, Black, Wilkins), one linebacker (Furman), and three free safeties (Johnson, Robinson, Gordon)? That is truly a unique defense. The good ol' 4-1-6.

well there is one thing it appears we all can agree on...Christian, Dorsey, and Turner ill all probably be starting in 2012 and that looks very very promising!

Roh - Cambell/Ash - Black/Talbott - Wilkins Furman - Ryan/MRob - Bell Turner - MRob/Emilien - Christian Dorsey Unsure whether MRob will stay at S or move to LB. I heard Jake Ryan was recruited for DE spot but something tells me he may stay at that MLB spot.

my format was messed up and i forgot about hawthorne.. DT - Black NT - Campbell DE - Wilkins Quick - Roh Spinner - Furman LB - Bell LB - Hawthorne Box Safety - MRob CB - Turner, Christian Deep Safety Dorsey i think because of furmans incredible athleticism, they will move hawthorne to LB when furman is ready though i expect players not yet on the team to compete...especially at LB and DE

Van Bergen will not be here in 2012. This is at least the third person (Martin, Fitzgerald, now Van Bergen) who's been listed who's clearly running out of eligibility in 2011. My picks to start on defense in 2012: DL - David Bowens, Pat Massey, William Carr, James Hall LB - Erick Anderson, Eric Mayes, Clint Copenhaver DB - James Whitley, Marcus Ray, Brandent Englemon, Todd Howard

Denard Robinson is going to shock the world after this season, put on 75 lbs without losing any speed, spend an off season redshirting and learning some killer moves, and return for the '12 season as the world's most deadly cannonball ninja assassin defensive end. Book it. No sugarcoat.

Rank speculation and malicious innuendo, that's what I'm talking about! Seriously though, my only claim to anything inside is that I watched Demens play many times at Detroit Country Day. Fine player but I always thought his level was MAC, not Big 10. Then again, I'm not a professional talent evaluator. Hope I'm wrong about him.

Now this is only a wish list if everything turns out perfectly, you never know how things will go, but this D will lock down. Lalota-Walk on-Ash-Heininger Hawthorne-Unknown true freshmen stud everyone loves to jump like 5 guys on the depth chart-Leach(please let there be eligibility)Furman if he's gone. My backfield will be senior laden and experienced, I'd put turner in but he'll be the #1 pick in the draft and leave early after 11 so that leaves JT Floyd-Teric Jones at the corners with Christian working his way in on the Nickle packages with Kovacks and Dorsey operating the (no fly zone) deep.
