I prefer not to relive the games where our defense had more holes than swiss cheese
I was there and prefer not to relive seeing our defense give up IU school records in offense to a QB that isn't even on an NFL roster
The main thing I remember about that game was watching Indiana shred our defense. They converted what felt like a hundred 3rd and longs. We couldn't even stop them when they faced a 3rd and 25 in the third quarter. You could see RichRod wanting to kill himself after that play.
converted a 100 3rd and longs against us that year...
...and 2009. That game in Iowa City (which ended up being a 30-28 loss) was a better example than 2010 Indiana with all the 3rd down conversions. Iowa even scored a 40 yard TD pass on a 3rd and 15.
Pure torture. I often felt like GOD was punishing me for all those years I complained about Jim Herrman's defenses. Little did I know that it could get much, MUCH worse.
game in 09 was the night of my wedding so i didn't get to see much of it but from what i do remember the D looked like ass the entire game and the O wasn't helping matters... wasn't that the game where rich rod thought it would be a good idea to bust out the speed option???
The pathetic defensive display has kind of fogged my memory on what we tried to do on offense.
Donovan Warren started the game with a pick 6. After that, the defense was typical RichRod defense with Iowa receivers having about a 10 yard cushion to make all kinds of catches on 3rd and long. At one point, our defense faced a 3rd and 18, I turned to my dad and said, "Look! It's another 3rd and long. That means the Hawks will get AT LEAST 20 yards." They ended up getting 22.
The second half of the game was weird. RichRod pulled Forcier out of the game in the 4th quarter because he was acting like an ass or not listening to the coaches, something strange that wasn't really addressed. With us down 30-21, Denard led a nice touchdown drive. Then somehow by some miracle of nature, the defense forced a punt. With a minute remaining in the game and needing only a field goal to win, my dad said, "Crap! We have a chance to win and Denard will throw an interception like usual." I told him maybe we could pull this off and no sooner had I said that then Denard threw the pick.
I felt horrible for him because he looked so upset. But it was the D and Forcier that deserved the majority of the blame.
Both Iowa games in 2009 and 2010 they converted 3rd after 3rd after 3rd...
I think this game is Richrod's tenure in a nutshell. We could score a lot (usually) but never stop anyone (even Indiana. INDIANA)
Ive never been more mad about a win in my life. That defense made IU look like they were full of first round NFL draft picks. Denard didnt disappoint, though.
Did you watch the UMass game that year? What about the Illinois game? I think we were all numb by the Miss St game so I wont count that one...
Getting outscored 137-49 in our final three games made a lot of party stores happy though
Well at least we were helping boost the economy.
in this game is so fucking horrible... oh wait that was every game in 2010...
I remember not being all that mad about the defense actually. I remember saying they had a good QB and some good receivers and were going to give some Big Ten teams trouble down the road. Then IU went to OSU and got crushed 38-10 and finally I thought it was going to be a rough year
I'm not trying to troll or anything but did Jonas Mouton really have second round potential or just get drafted early?
It was a very speculative move. If we’re being honest with ourselves, he got drafted way early.
Anyone remember the defensive highlights Brian made for this game the day after? LOL
is who that charismatic, insightful, female anouncer is?
I want her to father my children.
I love the announcers "rich rod truley a master mind"
Doss... Made him look like Calvin Johnson
Thread needs Pam Ward disclaimer.
I never want to see a game again where Michigan gives up 35 or more to indiana. Yikes.
Good riddance rich rod.
They should just scrap this and two a whole games worth of Brady Hoke pointing.
Is today IU day? they've got an IU game verse Michigan AND Ohio State.....playing the Big Boys of the B10 must be the closest thing IU gets to a classic football game ...
How about the penn state game later in the year when we went up against a walk on's first start and our defense made him look like peyton manning breaking every record in the book.
This IU game gave me legit heart paliptations, actually that whole season did
You mean this Penn State game?
This was painful. I remember IU having the ball for like 100 plays and that awful song their band kept playing after every one of their countless first downs. I don't care to watch it again.
I do remember Mike Martin having a badass 20-yard sack, though.
Indiana scores on a missed tackle and Michigan bobbles the kickoff at the end of the game.
I've blocked this game from my memory, as if it never actually happened.
Speaking of games that never actually happened, what is this 2010 Michigan v. Indiana game you speak of? I have no recollection of such a game.
My wife still likes to mess with me about the whole 2010 season in general. She would ask me what would be so bad about losing to indiana. I just told her losing to indy would be on parallel to losing to toledo.
came thru big with that great catch to set up Denard's game-winning TD. Gonna miss him!
watching that defense through last year was night and day lol. Little off topic but i was trying to find gameday from ohio bball game maybe on youtube? like the football?
