The 2 point conversion play call will bother me for eternity

OSU knew exactly what was coming on the 2 point conversion. I'll forever love the fact that Hoke went for two, but if it was Borges' call for the 2 point conversion he should be fired (I think he should still be, one game does not save your job). I'll probably be thinking about what would've happened if Devin had rolled out for the rest of the week non stop. And I know I'll never fully get over it. Shit.

Two steps forward, box out the corner and stick his hands up in the air, about a foot above the defenders, slide to the outside. Alley oop. Jump pass -- like the plays to Hemingway a few years ago. Ball travels about 4 yards high above those little jumpy guys. The corner jumps the route on Dileo and the ball needs to be in a six inch square. Also makes Devin make the tough read. At least go where there's a physical mismatch. And it's not something OSU has seen over and over where the DB coach can call it. At least put Butt on the back side at TE, if not in Dileo's spot, to pull the safety a bit out of the crossing route. Putting Williams there lets 'em cheat middle, 'cause Al ain't throwing to get AJ his second catch of the year.

Shitty play call - ESPECIALLY coming out of the TO in the same formation.

I'm mostly over it.

I'm hoping that I won't have to deal with Borges at this time next year.  If I do, I'm hoping i'm surprised and that he's my new favorite coordinator b/c our offense willb e unstoppable.  I doubt I'll get either of my wishes.

What we saw yesterday was a lot closer to an Al Borges offense than what we had seen previously.  What's sad is that I still think he will be the sacrificial lamb this off-season.  When the MANBALL shackles are taken off, this team looks pretty good on offense, even with most of the OL being a year too young to play elite football.

I have re-watched that play 45 times and I think that even if Ohio did know what we were running, if DG throws it earlier and leads Dileo outside vs a late ball inside, we win. Looks like he threw late and was inaccurate. Still, with all the great play calls that day, would have maybe liked something else.

I'm with ya.  I can't stop replaying it over and over in my head... Even with the same play I wonder if he just waited a second longer if Gallon would of gotten open.  Also think about if he tucked it in and run to the left it looked like he might have been able to get in himself.  Rollout, maybe an option pass/run play..  Can't get it outta my head.

I thought it was a good call. I suspect DG was to make a decision based on who defenders followed. I would have loved to have seen him pump fake to Dileo and then gone to the wide open Gallon.

consider the fact that OSU still would have had 37 (!) seconds to get like, 35 yards and get into field goal range for the win. This is due to the complete and utter incompetence of our staff in spiking the ball on the five yard line with 45 seconds to go.

This scenario would have been even worse than the one that played out, and the way our defense was playing who's to say it wasn't likely to happen? Wile had already kicked the last ball out of bounds.

First off I'm not saying to run it down to nothing. If we had run a huddle there at 40 seconds the play would have ended with 25 seconds left at least. This is plenty of time to run 3 more plays, especially given we still had 1 timeout left.

Now, if you're saying that we needed to leave enough time to drive the field after recovering the onside... consider that the success rate for onside kicks is ~18%. Meanwhile, the success rate for a 2-pt conversion is 45%. We'll say the time required to drive within field goal range is 25% for both teams. So in that situation, the scenario where we take the lead but leave enough time for OSU to drive into field goal range is over four times as likely (11.25%)  as the scenario where we miss the 2-pt conversion, recover the onside, and then drive into field goal range ourselves (2.5%). In reality, 25% is being way too generous to our defense. C'mon, 37 seconds for 40 (their 35 to our 25) yards with Urban Meyer's offense? That's just too much time.

In the 3rd and gaol situation in our loss, Nebraska called for a pass to the right side, then audibled to a pitch to the left side when we stacked on the right side. Brian and others showed how far we mis-aligned for a pass, and were hopeless against a short-side option.

Would have loved that audible to be called. May have shocked Ohio by switching over to short side quickly.

Anyway, this has been a CRAP season, no matter what. Reminds me of the 1979 season when we found ways to lose FOUR games, including two at home. At the time, Bo's worst ever season. The home loss to Ohio State, ranked #1 and 10-0, was a close-but-no-cigar 18-15 loss.

The real measure on this season and loss will be the 2014 season. Just like I can now watch the 1979 home loss to Ohio on B1G 10 classic, because the 1980 team found success and won at Ohio and in the Rose Bowl, we won't know if this was any kind of positive turning point or not.

OSU would have beaten us in OT! Gardner could barely stay on the field and OSU was running right through or defense.

The play was kind of pathetic. I wish there was a TE on the left side and Gardner could check down. The timing was not good on that curl pattern. It had to be much faster and was a slow passing play, plenty of time for OSU DB to react.
