Another rule change coming at the expense of the lions?  Boned again.  No way in hell that was indisputable.  Does the side of the calf count as a knee? Because that's what MIGHT have touched the ground.

So instead of an extremely exciting 4th down play to decide the game, the NFL has decided that fans would prefer a run-off.  Every single person in the front office should be fired and barred from any future employment in sports.

The Lions get much credit for hanging with the Atlanta Falcons, but I didn't fully like the execution of the final play. Matthew has to make sure Tate and that throw is into the end zone. You can't risk Tate getting tackled inches before the goal line with no timeouts.

I think Matthew threw just a split second too early and just a little too low. Tate and his knee was already falling to the ground to catch the low pass and that allowed the defender to get away with just a brush touch tackle.

It was still a great effort overall by the Lions.

Today's issues were the replacement players and Ebron. LBs and the left side of the offensive line were really bad. Lions still have depth issues. Hard to believe some of those replacements even have jobs on NFL rosters. Fact that Lions were an inch away from beating a very good team with the backups getting trashed is encouraging. Lions still need to get deeper to be a Super Bowl contender. The drop off shouldn't be that drastic. Better depth means that the Lions aren't at the mercy of officiating or that last play. Once we get over the last play of the game, we will realize that the Lions are still on a better track to being a contender than they've been since 91 (before the tragedies to their offensive line). Probably a year away but outside of Ebron, at least this this team feels different. .
