12/6 - Henne vs Brady

Submitted by TorontoBlue on
Looking ahead, a week from Sunday Tom Brady's Patriots invade south Florida to play Chad Henne's Dolphins in an important AFC East matchup. I honestly can't ever remember two QB's from the same university starting against each other in an NFL game. I'm sure it's happened - who knows the last time? I believe I read somewhere that LC will be attending this one, right? As a coach and developer of men that's got to make him feel pretty proud. Good local showcase for the two guys from Hollywood we're trying to sign come Feb also. Hope everyone down below had a great Turkey Day including UM beating Creighton in Orlando. GO BLUE!

Palmer will probably play against Sanchez soon, if he hasn't already. He could have played against Cassel too. Maybe even Leinart because he did start for awhile.

it hasnt happened yet, but an orton brees matchup would be one of those that a lot of people wouldn't even realize as 2 purdue guys, because you know, its purdue

i dont think its all that rare for qbs from the same school to be starting against one another. still though, its been amazing to see how henne has progressed in miami. watching him since that florida game has been a real treat. sure is a shame that loeffler couldnt have stayed here. he was a 5-star qb recruiting machine.

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200311230nyj.htm 2003:Marshall QBs Chad Pennington(NYJ) and Byron Leftwich(JAX) http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=281211003 2008:Purdue QBs Drew Brees(NO) and Kyle Orton(CHI) Those are probably the easiest to find, though I wouldn't doubt a couple of USC matchups as jrt336 said above. And as a guy who dislikes the Redskins, a Collins/Brady matchup wouldn't be half bad either.

Any speculation as to who the Dolphins will start next year (Henne, Thigpen, some new guy, or Pennington)? Henne needs to solidify himself as a great passer; His 6 passing TDs underestimate his potential.

Before this season it was pretty much already decided that Pennington wouldn't be signed to a new contract (2009 was the last year of his contract) and Henne was going to be the franchise quarterback starting in 2010. I haven't been following his games that carefully, but it seems like he's played well enough as a first-time starter coming in during the middle of the year. Miami loves running the ball (with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams who wouldn't?) so that partially explains the low number of TDs. Barring catastrophe, I can't imagine any way that he is not the full-time starter in 2010.
