Joe Moorhead rumored to be a leading candidate to replace him. Certainly wouldn't mind that.
December 26th, 2016 at 11:37 AM ^
Rather than another "MOMS DELETE" thread. Figured I'd just edit and make it something useful.
(For those who are late, this was a 2nd Diaco thread. If you want the original, here you go: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ot-bob-diaco-fired)
December 26th, 2016 at 11:37 AM ^
To replace who? Diaco?
December 26th, 2016 at 11:39 AM ^
Yeah, not a bad spot for him since he coached at Fordham and would at least have a dynamic offense.
December 26th, 2016 at 1:10 PM ^
I have heard Trace McSorley jerseys are selling like hotcakes in Storrs, CT.
December 26th, 2016 at 11:38 AM ^
Miami +15.5, BC +2, NC State -5.5

Always. Miss State will be the most un-motivated team in bowl history. They have nothing to gain in beating a MAC team and everything to lose.
I would bet that half their team did not even know there was another "Miami" team out there.

Then you hope for meteor_strike

Always and forever.
December 26th, 2016 at 11:40 AM ^
I'd support Schiano to UConn. Personally, I think UConn should go after les miles.
December 26th, 2016 at 11:43 AM ^
Don't know how well Les can recruit when he has to scrape for players. LSU recruits itself.
December 26th, 2016 at 11:48 AM ^
Schiano to Connecticut State Penitentiary maybe...he KNEW
December 26th, 2016 at 11:51 AM ^
Obligatory #4. I should've mentioned it.
That's a horrible fit (Miles).
Schiano has ties to the area and would make a heck of a lot of sense. Miles is not building a program. Miles needs a program that's pretty established just down or loses a coach late to scandal (i.e. Baylor) or NFL.
For example, if Dantonio retired all of a sudden. Miles would be a great choice. If a Baylor or Missouri situation presented itself...Miles would be a great choice.
If someone at a middle/bottom of the top 25 team left for a bigger job and that job came open...MIles would be a great choice (i.e. UNC or WVU or Pitt...Okie St. and Ole Miss fit that mold but are unlikely for obvious reasons).
IMO, Miles is the perfect candidate to take you from 8-4, 9-3 into a 10+ win seasons. Or if you've had recent success and just had a really down year...he could probably get you back. But he's not taking some bad, rebuilding, or middle of road team and building it up. (Too old, name doesn't carry the weight it once did, most kids aren't going to flock to play for Miles at a lesser program).
December 26th, 2016 at 5:27 PM ^
I don't know about fit. But in terms of name recognition, he's someone that will get people talking about uconn.
December 26th, 2016 at 11:44 AM ^
How in the hell is Mississippi State bowl eligible with a 5-7 record?
December 26th, 2016 at 11:47 AM ^
Nobody else wanted to play in this game.
/Only half kidding.
December 26th, 2016 at 11:52 AM ^
At the very least, you can safely say that you don't need to bring your pride to play in the St. Petersburg Bowl, or indeed the Quick Lane or Camping World Independence Bowl for that matter.
/not entirely kidding either.
December 26th, 2016 at 12:28 PM ^
ESPN thinks they're slick too. Last night on the screen crawl they tried to say that they were 5-7 in SEC play. I'm thinking since when had any team played twelve conference games?
December 26th, 2016 at 11:48 AM ^
ironically, because of their graduation rate
December 26th, 2016 at 11:46 AM ^
Miami (NTM) is a nice story this year. Started the year 0-6 (including a loss to Eastern Illinois), then won thier last 6 to get bowl eligible.
Pretty nice turnaround, led by outstanding (former GVSU) head coach Chuck Martin. 2 wins in year 1, 3 in year 2, and now a bowl game in year 3!
December 26th, 2016 at 11:47 AM ^
and go Terps, I guess
December 26th, 2016 at 11:47 AM ^
Meh. I'm more interested in Boxing Day coverage of Premier League. Looks like Arsenal, Chelsea and ManU will come out on top this morning with Man City playing later today.

I hope Willie Gay is watching the 5-7 Mississippi State Bulldogs get outplayed by the 6-6 Miami OH MAC team... come to AA Willie, where we play good football.

MACtion speed...
December 26th, 2016 at 12:02 PM ^
I personally love the "Miss State didnt come to play" line.. typical SEC BS ... GTFO with that... 5-7 is not indicative a good team..
December 26th, 2016 at 12:04 PM ^
Didn't they also lose to directional, sectional, and technical Alabama U?

Pretty weak football schedule.
However, considering it's a Monday afternoon, it's pretty damn great.
December 26th, 2016 at 11:51 AM ^
Exactly best Monday afternoon football schedule in at least a year!
December 26th, 2016 at 11:56 AM ^
What do you expect?
However...here's my viewing schedule for bowl season. I'll watch Maryland because of B1G and NC State and Vandy is sneaky intriguing because NC State was in 3-4 games they lost this year and Vandy is surging under Derek Mason who's a solid coach (and who we want to replace Don Brown down the road).

Your avoidance of Temple pounding out Wake Forest is unwarranted.
Enjoy one of the better defenses in college football.

BC-DJ "I take interviews the week of The Game" Durkin U only has passing historical interest if that.
December 26th, 2016 at 12:00 PM ^
- Bad games are better than no games.
- You could always choose not to watch? Maybe?
December 26th, 2016 at 12:10 PM ^
Nah, most would rather eschew the opportunity to keep their mouths shut and instead start the annual "are there too many bowl games" debate.
December 26th, 2016 at 12:19 PM ^
Which my answer is always the same....
You're right, there are too many bowl games. But there are far biggest issues in the world and in college football. Meaningless games between medicore teams isn't the end of the world. It means nothing, you don't have to watch...I'd prefer to watch this over SportsCenter for the 4th hour today, so leave me be.
I hate that argument. If people were trying to act like this game matters, like everyone should care...then I understand. But no one does. This is like MACtion during the week...watch if you want, if not, go watch Fixer Upper and Modern Family reruns. But those of us watching aren't trying to make it MACtion the "Game of the Week" --- we just want to watch college football.
But don't tell me there are too many bowls games and then turn around and tell me you want an exhibition game in the spring or a preseason game in the fall.

December 26th, 2016 at 1:16 PM ^
I agree. Just a couple of days ago I had (for real) a great time watching the Famous Potato Bowl. No defense (61-50 score)? No big deal ...
December 26th, 2016 at 3:58 PM ^
Tell the players of these teams there are too many bowls. That they don't deserve the experience. Tell em to their face that they play bad football and don't deserve it. Like many others say; don't like, don't watch. Indeed tits need to be calmed...
December 26th, 2016 at 1:20 PM ^
I don't think he was personally attacking anyone for watching. He was simply making an observation.
I am in agreement, it's bad football. At the same time, bad football is better than no football.
Let's all calm our tits here.
December 26th, 2016 at 12:06 PM ^
might I suggest Boxing Day Premier League?
