Seriously, thank you for this. At first I was pissed that this didn't work, but then I chilled out and realized I had to paste it in the stream section, under network.

There are some settings adjustments here:

1st, Open VLC 2.0.5. Go to Tools > Preferences
Select the radio button "Show Settings" - All (near the bottom)
Select input/codecs.
Scroll down to advanced, and change the value for Network Caching to 5000 (ms).
This helps to prevent dropped frames and provides a more stable stream.

Also you probably need a pretty fast internet connection.
