Michigan has more built in advantages than MSU. Harbaugh walked into a team that had ready-made talent and a B1G caliber starting QB to boot. Dantonio had to build his from the ground up, so of course his climb would take a little longer. And yes get me a win in Indy and I’ll take an ass whooping in the playoff by Alabama. It is not like we haven’t gotten humiliated before in lesser games.
November 18th, 2017 at 6:05 PM ^
Ready made talent and big ten caliber QB???
This fan base is so fucking revisionist when it comes to justify calling harbaugh overrated and talk up dantonio.
This program was in a death spiral and called a dumpster fire that would take 5 years minimum to rebuild.
But yes, Jim inherited a "ready-made" roster and good QB. Hoke basically allowed him to walk into a simular situation as Meyers did one year removed from sweater vest.
November 18th, 2017 at 6:32 PM ^
The guy had 11 guys drafted last year and Rudock his first season in the program. No one is saying Harbaugh is a bum but are performances in big games are becoming a bit of a concern.
November 18th, 2017 at 7:25 PM ^
The whole "Big Game" statistic has been readily disproven.
It's simplistic human narrative to say that a coach "can't win the big game". E-v-e-r-y game is a "big game", coaches and players are fighting for their careers and livelihood e-v-e-r-y game. That's how this all boils down.
The absurdity of it. Especially for a HC on his who's already had over decade of success at 4 different programs in college and the pros.
This idea is irrational. "Can't win the big game". It applies to EVERY SINGLE COACH EVER...until...it doesn't! (and player).
The deduction is goofy.
But, that never seems to stop anyone.

Ummm...I'm def preparing for my liver for a 48-3 beating next week. So...I guess I'll take it
November 18th, 2017 at 8:46 PM ^
Id take Dantonio type performance decade after decade. Beat msu 4 out of 5 and osu 1 out 3 while winning 3 conference titles. That seems really nice right about now.
November 18th, 2017 at 5:26 PM ^
We have to stop with the 3-9 stuff. They had a down year and came back and now have 2 top 10 wins this season...while we have not beaten a team with a winning record. They bounced back and we have dipped below them.
November 18th, 2017 at 6:11 PM ^
My God! 3-9 is a down year. 8-4 with injuries everywhere with the youngest team in the country is a down year. 3-9 is a rich rod type embarrassment.
BTW, they have one top ten win in psu.
November 18th, 2017 at 6:33 PM ^
They beat us when we were ranked in the top ten buddy!
November 18th, 2017 at 8:24 PM ^
Time to get over last year buddy. Dantonio obviously did. You can say 3-9 until you're blue in the face, it's not going to change the fact that Dantonio owns U-M. Not only did he beat U-M once again, but U-M is looking up at him in the standings per usual.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:35 PM ^
Along with OSU, ND and at least two other teams.
November 18th, 2017 at 5:27 PM ^
That's your opinion. It's a shitty one, but you're entitled to it.
November 18th, 2017 at 5:35 PM ^
If we lose 5 or more regular season games next year, I'll stop posting on this board. If we lose 4 or fewer games, you'll stop posting. Deal?
November 18th, 2017 at 4:16 PM ^
Well guess what? Two completely different situations and programs. MSU hadn't won crap in fourty years now they regularly beat top ten teams and actually you know win meaningful bowl games. MSU has the same amount of top five finishes that we have in the last 25 years. Considering how much shit our fans talk about them playing the disrespect and underdog role I find that hilarious and sad.
November 18th, 2017 at 8:39 PM ^
U-M football is Rocky Balboa at the beginning of Rocky III -- a bloated, soft champion living the high life and celebrating past glories that gets beat down at the hands of a more hungry challenger. Until this program (and fan base) changes its mindset and begins acknowledging that they're not a top dog anymore, nothing is changing anytime soon.
November 18th, 2017 at 9:48 PM ^
Wow, this is the perfect description of how I feel about this program right now.
November 19th, 2017 at 2:04 AM ^
LOL!!!! Dude, you realize that 1997 was 20 years ago, right? We are a joke. We are more like Rocky XII. He's been dead for like a decade, but learned before he died that Adrian was banging Clubber Lang for years behind his back.
November 18th, 2017 at 3:53 PM ^
We’ll see how good this Wisconsin team really is in 2 weeks.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:19 PM ^
Well, they crushed iowa the week after iowa crushed osu. So i think theyll play well against osu.
November 18th, 2017 at 3:53 PM ^
Unless we are the top-10 team.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:09 PM ^
No shit. Like, I get it was upsetting, but nothing that happened today was unexpected. Peters doesn’t get injured and I think they play close till the end. Probably still lose, but we didn’t get blown off the field like Penn State.
Yes QB protection is a problem, but it’s not any offensive coach’s fault that that Wisconsin player drove him unnecessarily hard into the ground like that.
November 18th, 2017 at 5:54 PM ^
The protection was pretty good. Peters was not hit much and a few of the times he was, it was on the backs.
November 18th, 2017 at 3:40 PM ^
Always seems like our opponents want it more. Certainly the case when we play OSU and MSU and was evident against PSU earlier this year.
November 18th, 2017 at 3:42 PM ^
How did OSU "want it more" last year when they trailed for 90% of the game?
November 18th, 2017 at 3:45 PM ^
I. can only assume they "wanted it more" because - ya know - they won. Best guess though.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:12 PM ^
So I guess if the ref spots that 4th down short we win because we “wanted it more”? Makes sense.
November 18th, 2017 at 6:57 PM ^
I know. It was totally the refs. It had nothing to do with three turnovers, including a pick 6 and a fumble on the OSU 2 yard line. It had nothing to do with our 2.1 yards rushing on 43(!!!) attempts, netting less than 100 yards. It had nothing to do with our inability to sustain drives in the second half...or - shit - we had the ball with our victory in hand and couldn't get a first down...yeah - it was totally the refs.
November 18th, 2017 at 3:49 PM ^
They circle The Game. They embrace it. We seem to treat it like any other game. You know, just like OSU used to do under Cooper. We were a far superior team to OSU last year. We had a great team talent-wise. Maybe the best we've had since 1997. And we choked. Again, just like Cooper's teams did against Michigan.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:27 PM ^
The corrupt refs stole that game from us.
That's all it was.
November 18th, 2017 at 5:39 PM ^
As a fan base we have to stop with this “the refs are out to get us” stuff. Yes we all thought he was short, but if we execute in the 4th qtr. we do not leave it up to refs.
November 18th, 2017 at 5:51 PM ^
Yeah because it was the spot that people were talking about.
The spot was not even an issue for me. It was close enough for it to be ok.
They had 2 penelties in an 2ot game were 3 OSU life long fans were aloud to ref.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:27 PM ^
The corrupt refs stole that game from us.
That's all it was.
November 18th, 2017 at 6:59 PM ^
Just get a first down and we win the game. Refs didn't do shit. We lost because we beat ourselves.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:03 PM ^
When is the last time you didn’t see Michigan fold in a big game that wasn’t going well and come back to win?
November 18th, 2017 at 4:34 PM ^
2012 Michigan State? 2011 Notre Dame?
November 18th, 2017 at 5:46 PM ^
Wisconsin and Colo last year.
November 18th, 2017 at 7:00 PM ^
Colorado now qualifies as a big game?! Whoof
November 18th, 2017 at 7:07 PM ^
We never trailed in last year's Wisconsin game so it was not possible to "come back."
November 18th, 2017 at 3:40 PM ^
The team's mojo was diminished after Peters' injury.
November 18th, 2017 at 3:40 PM ^
Turning point was the cheap shot on Peters. Team knew they had no hope after that and played like it.
November 18th, 2017 at 3:54 PM ^
Why was it a cheap shot? We've been watching Hurst do that to QBs for years. Seemed like a good football play.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:06 PM ^
I agree it wasn't a cheap shot. It wasn't late or anything. But I believe Hurst or another DL got flagged for the grinding the guy into the turf bit, this year.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:21 PM ^
Watch the replay. When the defender is on top of Peters he drives Peters into the ground with his legs. Cheap dirty whatever you want to call it.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:22 PM ^
Continued to drive him long after the play was over.
That was not a football play. That makes our top two QBs out on dirty hits, but yeah let's keep arbitrarily demanding excellence
November 18th, 2017 at 3:41 PM ^
Or over a pursuing another mis direction play
November 18th, 2017 at 3:50 PM ^
Exactly Wisconsin offense consists of literally 5 plays and we fuck up their most obvious misdirection play... Such a dogshit defense against good teams
November 18th, 2017 at 3:42 PM ^
I am waiting for the day we win a game we are not supposed to win. There are upsets every week. I cannot remember the last time we upset anyone. One more chance to do it this year, and make it a satisfying season. I am not holding my breath.
November 18th, 2017 at 3:45 PM ^
Have you been waiting since 73??? Keep holding.
November 18th, 2017 at 6:09 PM ^
The last time Michigan beat a team that finished the season with a winning record. Michigan - 14, Wisconsin - 7 at The Big House.
