'14-'15 Big Ten Hockey Schedule Released

Submitted by gwkrlghl on

The Big Ten hockey conference schedule was released today and the results are below (including the only non-con games that I'm aware of). We open with our eternal tormentors in Ann Arbor right before Thanksgiving. That should be an early litmus test to determine whether things are normal now or whether you should resume being oh so frustrated with Michigan Hockey. Also, the conference did their best to schedule our two series with OSU in the wildest way possible: two one-offs and a home-and-home in a single weekend.

(Edit: Thanks to redwings8831 for the non-con games)

With the Big Ten - Hockey East challenge continuing, it's a safe bet we'll get play at least one or two more Hockey East teams. I don't think the trip to BC counts toward the challenge.

Some other non-conference:

10/4: at Ferris State
10/17-18: vs New Hampshire
10/31-11/1: at Michigan Tech
12/28-29: GLI (vs Tech, MSU/Ferris)

One each at BU/Lowell. I think the BC road game is in the 15/16 season.

Interesting Schedule - We start the B1G with five straight home games and then go four weeks in January/Early February with no home games in a stretch of 8 games with only one at home.

One the games at State will be played at the Joe - do we know which one?

It looks like they are trying to stretch the weekend with Thursday and Sunday games during the winter months.

Edit: beaten to it

You know what would be nice? Having a winning record against a team that has been around for 2 years. Can we get that this year?

Every team in the conference should get better or stay where they are, except Wisconsin who will be terrible. If I had to predict where each team will end up I would say: Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State.

They're not losing pieces, the Badgers lose an entire team.

When 4 defensemen and the players who accounted for 75% of your goal scoring aren't returning, it's not a reload. They will not be very good.

As for MSU, they're a sleeper team this year. The Spartans return most of their team and have a few big recruits coming in. They will have a Top-5 defense and be great in goal; the offense should improve with their underclassmen getting another year in the system.
