Week 10 Big Ten Bowl Projections
This idea was a lot more fun last week, when nobody was projecting Michigan into the TicketCity bowl. At least CBS still loves us!
Last week, I looked at 6 sources (ESPN Blogs, ESPN Schlabach, ESPN Edwards, CBS, BTN, and CFN/Scout). Four had Michigan going to the Cap1, CBS said Fiesta, and Rittenberg said Insight. For reference, here is my google doc with Week 9 projections for the other Big Ten teams, as well as for BCS games. (ignore the fact that Week 11 is already filled out - just a copy/paste so I wouldn't have to rewrite a lot of the matchups/opponents if I didn't have to).

Now, on to week 10 (which covers games through this past weekend). And yes, chart.

Ok, I haIn summary, Rittenberg kept Michigan in the Insight; CBS kept Michigan in the Fiesta (!); Brad Edwards kept Michigan in the Cap1; CFN and Schlabach dropped Michigan from Cap1 to Outback; and BTN dropped Michigan all the way from the Cap1 to the TicketCity bowl (screw you, Dienhart!). And not that you can average this sort of thing, but seems like the Outback is a likely destination for our Wolverines. And yeah, I'd be happy with that
And last week, 4/6 had Wisco in the Rose, with the other 2 having msu and Nebraska. This week, it's 3 Wisco and 3 msu.
Anyway, if this seems interesting, I'll do it again the next few weeks until bowl selection. Also, let me know if there are other bowl projections out there worth adding. I'm not doing Joe Schmo's blog or anything, but a local or national media outlet's projections might be interesting.

Rittenberg only gives the Big Ten team projections; doesn't do the opponents. Theoretically, you could look at the other conference bloggers for ESPN to see who they have as likely opponents.
CBS (ie, Jerry Palm) projects Okie State in the Cotton against S Carolina.

Book it.

Who's the SEC team they project in the Cotton Bowl? Georgia? I'm pretty sure the Cotton has first pick of the SEC West. I was figuring Arkansas would be in the Cotton.

I have good memories from that game.

Bill Connelly at SB Nation has a 10-2 Michigan team playing in the Gator Bowl against 6-6 Florida. I'd take that. http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/2011/11/7/2545039/college-football-bowl-projections-2011-oregon-oklahoma

Was his pick intended as a joke? There is no way a 10-2 B1G team, let alone a 10-2 UM team, would fall all the way to the Gator Bowl, which gets the 5th pick this year.
I think UM is going to finish 8-4 (losses to Illinois and OSU, win over Nebraska) and wind up as high as the Outback (3rd pick) or as low as the Gator (5th).

Isn't the Gator Bowl the 4th pick? We could still be 4th at 10-2, behind Wisco, MSU and Nebraska, but probably not Neb since 10-2 would mean we beat them. It's still possible though.

No, the Gator Bowl and the Insight Bowl rotate the 4th and 5th picks annually. Last year the Gator got the 4th pick, this year the Gator will get the 5th pick.

I'd like to see an Outback or Capital One versus South Carolina, Georgia, or Florida. I am biased toward the Outback as that is where I dwell. In addition the Outback personnel give a better experience than the Capital One. Plus, RayJay is a great stadium and Ybor can offer plenty of bars/restaurants for those visiting Wolverine fans.

Insight against TAMU or Outback against SCAR would be fantastic. I think we could take either of those teams, especially TAMU because they have issues in the latter half of games when we turn the jets on.

Just like Iowa, right?
Iowa struggles to close out games, we are a 4th quarter team. Didn't work out.

You can't win them all. Iowa was coming off of a humiliating loss. It was expected to be a very close game.
If we are going to play a team from another conference with a similar record, we are likely going to get beat. These are just our best chances for wins, IMO. I think that with 6 weeks to prepare for a team at a neutral site location is much more in favor of us than 1 week to prepare for a team whom will be playing at home.
