Spring Game Visitor List

Submitted by TomVH on

This is an early list of who is going to be at the Spring Game this year. This list will continue to grow, since these are only the players I've talked to so far. Some of the visits could change as we get closer, so just remember that.
I'll keep adding to the list as I talk to more people, but here's what I have so far.

Yes

WR DeAnthony Arnett

OH LB Percy Johnson
OH DE Bryan Baird - Said he will probably be there, not positive.
OH DB Greg Brown (commit)
MI DE Brennen Beyer
MI CB Delonte Hollowell (commit)
MI OL Anthony Zettel
FL RB Demetrius Hart (Mom coming too.)
FL S Dallas Crawford - Yes. This is a big one for Michigan.
FL WR Sammy Watkins - Yes. Also big.
MD DT Vincent Croce - Yes, as of now.
TX RB Jarrell Oliver (same school as Stonum, Herron, Woolfolk)
NJ LB Antoine Pozniak - He's coming with the "Top Prospects Family." Je'Ron Stokes dad is the founder of Top Prospects Family.
NJ ATH Miles Shuler

PA DE Deion Barnes - 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds. Same school as current wolverine Je'Ron Stokes, and his brother Malik Stokes.

NJ LB Andre Hodge - Top Prospects

Other Top Prospects Family - Ronald Butler, Tyron Stevens, Lamar McKnight

No

IN OL Tony Springmann
GA WR Justin Scott
FL DE Anthony Rabasa
PA DB Kyshoen Jarrett - No, as of now. Family might decide to come, but no for now.
OH S Ron Tanner - He has baseball.
OH DE Robert Mincey - No, he'll be at Toledo. No offer, not sure if he'll get one.
OH DT Kevin Williams -  He'll be at Nebraska, for their spring game. He was recently at Michigan for one of the practices. It seems like it's down to Nebraska and Michigan. He'll make his choice shortly after the 17th

NC LB Kris Frost - No. His family waited too long to buy tickets, so they were too expensive when they went to buy them. He's NOT going to Auburn's spring game over Michigan's, he's going to Auburn's because it's only 6 hours away. He figures he might as well go somewhere, if he can't make it to Michigan. They are trying to find another time to make it up.

AR QB Kiehl Frazier (2011) - No for the spring game. I spoke with his father, though, and they're really excited about Michigan. He said they DEFINITELY plan on making a trip to Ann Arbor. They really like Coach Smith, and are excited to see Michigan.

NJ WR Damiere Byrd - Track Meets

Maybe

MI RB Justice Hayes is going to try to make it. Not positive yet.
OH TE Ray Hamilton - There's a "strong possibility" that he'll be there. Not definite.
OH OL Aundrey Walker - Doesn't know for sure yet. It's still a possibility.
OH WR Shaq Washington - Going to try to make it. He doesn't have an offer, but Michigan is one of the few schools he's hoping to get an offer from. He thinks he fits the offense really well.
OL Matt Frazier - Didn't end up making it to practice the other week. He fell ill, and couldn't make it. He's either coming for the spring game, or one of the early games of the season. Most likely a game, though.

I agree that it is a legitimate question, and definitely would like to see the Dr. Phillips guys visit. Based on everything I've seen though, it seems like our best chance of landing Hasean Clinton-Dix and LaQuentin Smith would be as a package deal with Hart.

If Michigan is firmly in the driver's seat for Hart after the spring game visit, it can only help our chances with the other guys. We then might be able to get them up for an official visit during the season, and Hart can act as a Ricardo-like recruiter for us.

Bottom line, they need to devote as much time as possible to convince Hart's mom on this trip.

I want to know more about Percy Johnson.

After watching his highlights, I want to see an offer extended.

I wonder what his plans are for this summer, camp-wise.

Thanks as always Tom.

Definitely a good looking player. But with the limited amount of scholarships, I imagine they would have to strike out with a couple of guys before Percy Johnson receives an offer.

I like th second sentence, but the first one bothers me. Being in sole position at the top 9 1/2 months out is out is no lock, but I suppose it's better than being anywhere else 9 1/2 months out. We just need to win football games and stay out of trouble between now and then and he should stick with us.

After watching how Rich Rod has closed his first three classes, why in the world would you be worried at all about waiting until Signing Day?

Signing Day 2008 - Barnum and Roundtree
Signing Day 2009 - Stokes, Q and Denard
Signing Day 2010 - Demar.

I'm worrying ZERO about this class. Zero.

Uhhh...maybe because people change their minds? And being "the leader" means very little?

We just finished a recruiting cycle where Rashad Knight and Sean Parker had Michigan as the leader/a leader at some point in the process, and neither one ended up at Michigan. There was just an article posted about DeQuinta Jones and Darius Winston, who had either committed to Michigan (Jones) or named Michigan his leader (Winston) prior to signing with Arkansas. We now have a lack of depth at DT and the vast majority of our cornerbacks have freshman eligibility.

jg, I don't like to rip on people, but that was a dumb comment. I also don't like to say Magnus is right, but here I go again.

Sure, RR has pulled in solid recruits at the end. I think he's a great recruiter. But it doesn't mean that he doesn't lose guys. Not saying that a kid can't decommit anyway, but I'd be much more comfortable with a guy who has verbally committed to us than a kid who says we're his favorite but doesn't want to commit yet. I feel like this goes without saying, yet somehow you disagree.

WolvinLA2-

Remember a guy named Cullen Christian? If you were around throughout 2009, you'd have read hundreds of message board comments complaining, whining and worrying about the fact that Cullen had not committed to Michigan, even though he was going on his official visits in the fall and had stated Michigan was his #1 choice.

You'd also remember that at his press conference, he stated he had been a silent commit since May.

Sean Parker was a similar situation, only, it didn't work out for Michigan.

I think what you mean is that you're comfortable with guys who have PUBLICLY verbally committed to us - meaning, they have confirmed it with Sam Webb or Rivals. However, just because someone doesn't go on the record doesn't mean it's time to worry.

Having watched this happen for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 recruiting cycles, I submit that it's really not worth worrying about this stuff at all. Michigan will get the O-linemen they need to add to the 20 or so guys that are already on the team. They'll get the D-linemen they need for depth in the future.

I'm on board with a guy whose counsel I respect and have come to adopt the past few months re: recruiting - color me interested when the guy signs his letter of intent. The rest is surplusage.

If you're not interested until the guy signs a letter of intent, why pay attention until Feb? They can't sign until then, yet you comment on virtually every recruiting post. I, in fact, am interested before then, and based on the popularity of Rivals, Scout, and, ahem, MGoBlog, I'd say others are as well.

Cullen was a different story, but even with him everyone was sweating until he actually held his press conference to commit. Maybe I'm nuts, but when a player says "M is the leader, but I want to visit everywhere and I won't announce my choice for 10 months" I'm not nearly as excited as "M is my choice, I'm done with visits and I will no longer take calls from other coaches."

Yes, we win a number of recruiting battles. I'd like it better if there wasn't another team to battle.

Tom your the best! What about Valdez Showers? Is UM planning on offering? He's been pick up offers (MSU, Wisconsin, Northwestern, CMU, and Toledo) but not from the wolverines. Keep us updated.

Tom I read on the rivals site that Kris Frost is going to be attending Auburn's spring game on the 17th. I trust your reports more, can you shed any light on this?

I always like it when I see Mom is going to be in attendance. A) it means they're serious and B) you can't go wrong with a chance to impress Mom. If Momma ain't happy, it ain't happening.

I will be interested to see if Croce makes your spring game, he had said in the past that he was visiting UM and ND junior days but never made either
