Let's check in on the CFP committee; this week's episode:

WhoseIN1st.jpg

Starring Scott Stricklin and Bob Johnson

Stricklin: I love college football.

Johnson: We all love college football.

Stricklin: When we decide which SEC and ACC teams are in the CFP, will you tell me the teams' names, so I can fill out my bracket?

Johnson: Ok, I'll try but there are soooo many great SEC and ACC teams it's hard to keep them all straight.

Stricklin: What teams?

Johnson: The teams in the CFP, for example we have Who's in first, What's in second, I Don't Know's in third...

Stricklin: That's what I want to find out. I want you to tell me the names of the teams in the CFP.

Johnson: I'm telling ya. Who's in first, What's in second, I Don't Know's in third.

Stricklin: You don't know the team's name?

Johnson: Yes, I do.

Stricklin: Well then, who's in first place?

Johnson: Yes.

Stricklin: I mean, the team's name in first place.

Johnson: Who.

Stricklin: The team sitting in first place for the CFP?

Johnson: Who.

Stricklin: The team in first place.

Johnson: Who is in first!

Stricklin: Well, what are ya asking me for?

Johnson: I'm not asking you. I'm telling you. Who is in first.

Stricklin: I'm asking you who's in first.

Johnson: That's the team's name.

Stricklin: That's who's name?

Johnson: Yes.

Stricklin: Well, go ahead and tell me.

Johnson: Who.

Stricklin: The team in first.

Johnson: Who!

Stricklin: The first place team.

Johnson: Who is in first!

Stricklin: Have you got a first place team?

Johnson: Certainly.

Stricklin: Then who's in first?

Johnson: Absolutely.

Stricklin: All I'm tryin' to find out is what's the team's name in first place.

Johnson: Oh, no, no. What is in second place.

Stricklin: I'm not askin' you who's in second.

Johnson: Who is in first.

Stricklin: That's what I'm trying to find out.

Johnson: Well, don't change the teams around.

Stricklin: I'm not changin' nobody.

Johnson: Take it easy.

Stricklin: What's the team's name in first place?

Johnson: What's the team's name in second place.

Stricklin: I'm not asking you who's in second.

Johnson: Who's in first.

Stricklin: I don't know.

Johnson: Oh, they're in third place - we're not talkin' about them.

Stricklin: How did I get to third placee?

Johnson: You mentioned the team's name!

Stricklin: If I mentioned the third place team's name, who did I say is sitting in third place?

Johnson: No - Who is sitting in first.

Stricklin: Stay away of first, will ya?

Johnson: Well, waddya want me to do?

Stricklin: Now, what's the team's name in third place?

Johnson: No, What's in second.

Stricklin: I'm not asking you who's in second.

Johnson: Who's in first.

Stricklin: I don't know.

Johnson: They're in third.

Stricklin: There I go - back on third place again.

Johnson: Well, I can't change their names.

Stricklin: Would you please stay on third place, Mr. Johnson?

Johnson: Now, what is it you want to know?

Stricklin: What is the team's name in third place?

Johnson: What is the team's name in second place.

Stricklin: I'm not askin' you who's in second.

Johnson: Who's in first.

Stricklin: I don't know.

Johnson & Stricklin (together): Third Base!

Stricklin: I give up!

Johnson: Don't you want to know the team in fourth?

Stricklin: I DON'T CARE!

Johnson: O, I don't care .........that's UCF.

Immediately afterward they released their top 25:

Seriously, why doesn't Bob Johnson have to recuse himself when certain teams are being discussed?

STAT TIME!

Projecting UofM's Passing statistics for the next two games:

64% completion

10.8 y/a

8 tds

0 ints

201 passer rating

35 attempts p/g

378 yards p/g

Why you ask?

Is it because Joel Klatt says they will lose to Bama by 14 points because their passing game isn't good? No.

Is it because the staff thinks they needs "style points" to convince the "committee"? No.

Why then would I believe they are going to throw the ball against the 20th ranked passing D, rather than running it against the 120th ranked run D?

Because it's exactly what they did in 2015:

After the first eight games, Rudock and UofM's passing game improved 4% in completion percentage, 24% more yards per attempt, 43% more TDs, 57% less INTs, 39% more attempts and a whopping 80% more yards.

And the two teams that they started to "open it up" against? You guessed it, Indiana and Rutgers.

The Harbaughffense is like on Onion, it peels away layers at a time with the vertical passing game deep at the core; and by the time they expose it to the defense, they're already crying!

Game Prediction:

UofM throws nearly twice as much as it runs in the first half and they'll have nearly 300 yards passing by halftime; they'll finish with nearly 400 depending on how long Shea plays. I also can see the Defense getting in some real game time practicing "playing without aggression" because there might be a moment you might want to be the exact opposite of what the other team expects.

Till, next time stAy PsYcho and GoBlue!

Well, got that waaay wrong.

I was hoping the 2015 game plan was more Harbaugh than Fisch; or at least between him and Pep, they saw how to take it to the next level now that the style points count.

Guess Fisch has the onion and Pep is strictly potato.

O well, passing game should take us through Indy without too much problem, considering the Defense, but it might be better to miss the CFP. Don't think the vertical passing game has enough to buck with the other elite Ds, and the disrespect of missing the playoffs would fuel the revenge next year, when the O is ready.

Thanks.

And you're right, I was distracted at the beginning of the game and missed the early shots downfield that showed the aggressiveness I anticipated but saw all the 2 yard runs I guess. Plus if they would've hit any of those shots downfield the numbers would've lined up better.

Considering conditions it was a good start, but need more with the collegiate football collective mind so "impressed by the passing game" all of a sudden; cuz passing gamez win championships?

That Abbott & Costello bit always gets me...especially since the first time I ever heard it was when a couple of summer camp counselors did it back when I was in Jr High in the early 90s
