Official* Unveiling of the MGoShirts, Fall 2012 Edition

Submitted by Six Zero on August 21st, 2012 at 5:05 PM

ANN ARBOR--  The fashion world is abuzz with enthusiasm after images of the 2012 Fall MGoShirt line were leaked last night.  Less than twenty four hours after MGoBlog member and reported WikiLeaks contributor JeepinBen* published the images, UGP and designer Six Zero are proud to unveil the offerings with this official press release.

Without further ado, then, please welcome the MGoShirt 2012 Fall Collection (To get a closer look, or to order a shirt, please click on the corresponding image):

EATIN'

A bold and stylish ode to culinary delight, this tee celebrates the hunger we all feel as the season draws nearer... and the feast we shall all enjoy starting September 1st.  Available in S-3XL.

The Flow, Brunettes, and more after THE JUMP!

GO WITH THE FLOW

Fashion, of course, goes hand in hand with Flow.  This bold thomage of follicular glory is certainly business in the front and party in the back.  Available in S-3XL.

KICKER GIRL

This year the MGoStore caters exclusively to Ann Arbor's finest raven-haired ladies with this clever nod to brunettes.  But if blondes have more fun, they're welcome to don this tee as well.  And if redheads break all the rules, I'm sure we won't be able to stop them either.  Available in American Apparel Ladies Tri-Blend S-XL.

ROLLIN'

The Twosie.  Indubitably there cannot be grander sport than frolicking down the cobblestoned thoroughfares of dear Ann Arbor on a tandem bicycle with your fondest mate, right?  This tee's style was designed to mimic 60's counter-culture posters and tour shirts.  Available in S-3XL.

WINNINGEST

Visual proof that words don't have to be real to be the truth.  This shirt is a tribute to over a century of excellence and the passionate defense of that noble title.  Available in S-3XL.

All shirts are available in the MGoStore starting today!!!
Gear up for Season 133 and GO BLUE!!!

*I am quite sure JeepinBen is in no way affiliated with WikiLeaks.
His Dudeness, maybe, and certainly Blazefire, but not JeepinBen.

Six Zero here.... Obviously this year's line focuses more on quality than quantity, but that's not for a lack of effort.  Every year we produce many designs, and only the strongest and most marketable creations are what end up on the racks, in your hands, and in the stands year after year.

With that being said, we have a few alternate designs that ended up 'on the fence.'  We're not sure if they work or if they'd sell, and so we thought it might be fun to let you, the MGoBlog community, decide for yourselves.  Some admittedly land higher on the fence than others, but I and UGP would love to hear your feedback, and if there's one or more that YOU JUST NEED TO SEE put in the store, SPEAK UP and that's what'll happen.  Make us make them!!

So without further ado, here's some of the runners-up of the 2012 MGoShirt Line:

WHEN YOU'RE ON

(FRONT)

(BACK)

You know, the song and all.  It still seems to be a rallying cry around these parts and beyond.  Plus shirts with profanity, even the simulated kind, are cool in a dangerous kinda way.

UNRETIRED

Meh.  Tried to hard to make an idea work, I think.  My take is that if you have to explain to someone what your shirt would mean, you probably won't buy it.  Or you're just weird and you like it that way.

MAKE THE WORLD

You know, if the UM alumni, student body, fan base and a certain quarterback went back in time to the Napoleonic era, I'm pretty sure we could take on England.  And win.

ERMAHGERD

Version 1

Version 2

I.... there's nothing really more to say, is there?

and finally, the Upton concept.

We thought we'd try to tackle the phenomenon of, well, 'Upton,' and why her choice in college football teams makes our college football team better.  They're kinda weird, and probably a little too tasteless for my taste, but it was fun designing them.  Yes, especially the last one.  What do you guys think?  Would you buy 'em?

UPTON VER. 1

Simply stated, one of the things our fan base has going for it.

UPTON VER. 2

This is for you, tasteless frat boy crowd!!! Huh huh, huh huh

UPTON VER. 3

Look closely.  There's a word in there.

So at the very least there's an inside look at some of the other designs that did not make the final cut.  And if you think some of these are less tradtitional, rest assured this barely touches the iceberg in comparison some of the designs that have failed in years past (I'm looking at you, TPryor Voodoo Doll!)

By all means I invite any and all criticism (here's looking at you, my old friend who down-votes every single post I have ever created and I know always will) and any other suggestions or commentary you'd like to contribute to the cause.  All of the final shirts should be available for sale by the time I post this article, as are several other proud offerings of the MGoStore!!

I'm willing to give you all a pass for the first week, but let's see these in the crowd by the Air Force game before the commercial breaks!!

GO BLUE!! BEAT BAMA

That makes Corey's question even more relevant.  Taking the "eating" idea from some kids trying to raise money for Pahokee by selling similar shirts seems very questionable if most/much of the proceeds for this shirt aren't somehow getting back to Pahokee.  It seems clear that this is where the shirt idea came from.

completely agree that this should not be sold in the mgostore unless proceeds are given to Tae and the Hope for Pahokee foundation. I am really surprised there was no oversight about this before Six Zero put this up on the store, since the #Eating campaign and Hope for Pahokee has been featured on the blog numerous times since Tae started it last year.

I would say that I would purchase the womens Brunette tee, but as I just picked that one up myself for said brownie points, I'm thinking it would be awkward as hell to play the ol' twin tshirt thing while we are still in our 20's....maybe when we are 50 but 20's no way.

I really like the Make the World Michigan shirt, although I feel like there is some sort of a pun that is missing from that which could make it better -- don't know what it is.  Something to do with the "again"-like sound at the end of Michigan...

I'm too tired to come up with anything clever.

That shirt may need to be explained to 97% of the people who see it. 1% will get it and 2% will think they get it but will be a little confused because they haven't seen this random picture.

That video got me into Rilo Kiley and re-enforeced my faith in this fan community, if not our team, back in 2009.  I was into it enough that I actually learned it and covered it with my band a few times.

Anyway the point is:  I'd buy the "Sometimes When You're On" shirt so hard.  Maybe even more than one.

I really really really like the Make the World Michigan concept, and would buy it in a second.

Of the shirts that have already been green-lit, I may consider purchasing the EATING design. If I had a girlfriend, I would totally buy her the kicker shirt. Just stupendous work.

Not entirely on topic, but I wore my HTTV photobomb shirt the other day -- my wife took one look at me and said, "What the hell is that?!"

It is just so shocking that it is 100% pure columbian awesomeness.

An excellent selection, Six Zero!

I will likely get both "Eatin'" and "Winningest" for myself, and I will try to talk the wife into the "Kicker" one. I would definitely get the "Make The World" one as well, if it was produced.

Really though, the Upton series is pretty great too, particularly the last one - I definitely think you'd see some strong sales from this community anyway, and the same goes for the "When You're On" shirt. I would definitely consider that one as well.

The first version of the  "Ermahgerd" has a combination of traditional typeface and obscure reference that will definitely get a notice. At least for the studious Michigan fan (well-represented here certainly), that might not be a bad one either.

Can someone make one that says, " This shirt is illegal in OklahoMa."

Block M in Oklahoma obviously.

EDIT: Shit. MGOlawyers, can I TM this somehow? Maybe it won't matter. Every idea on the internet is free right?

I can't believe you were on the fence about these. Go with your gut next time, because these are gold, especially the "sometimes when you're on", and "My other football shirt" designs. The "Ermahgerd" might be hard for people to understand, but it would be unmistakable with the silhouette of an ambiguous dreadlocked football player with untied laces below the text.

... and much more curmudgeonly than I really am.

The Rilo shirt I think would be much better with only the front side (and perhaps an ellipses).  I certainly would buy it then.

And please please don't make the second, but especially not the third Upton shirt.  All for the first one, but I mean c'mon.  Don't make me hate Michigan fans for for wearing those shirts.

OK, I really am that curmudgeonly.

Does anyone have the image of Denard on one knee after a touchdown. If you know the image and can take out the background so I just have an outline of Denard celebrating his touchdown it would be very helpful

All the Upton shirts are abominations (natch!) but the third one is a more serious betrayal of Michigan TRADITION and values than the combined work of 10 Brandons selling add space on Hoke's ass.
