NCAA Football 2009
Is anyone else depressed over NCAA Football 2009 like me? I've been playing online and came to several conclusions.
1) Its nearly-impossible to play run defense... A run up the middle will get you at least 3-4 yards provided you make it to the line of scrimmage.
2) Its nearly-impossible to play pass defense... You can consistently roll to the left and throw right(to receivers not even on the screen) succesfully.
3)Every game comes down to a fumble or interception (usually one team will make a bad throw and it won't be intercepted but the other team will make a bad throw for a pick 6... all other drives will result in touchdowns).
4) The computer AI is terrible. The only defensive player that runs toward the ball is the one you are controlling.
5) It is absolutely impossible to cover the rb as a receiver out of the backfield. I've tried putting safeties, linebackers, and using zones to stop it but its a guaranteed 6-7 yds and probably more if the offense employs a hb screen.
Has anyone else who bought this game had the same problems? Its really frustrating because scoring is actually easier this year than ever before, and its always been easy.
Has anyone figured out how to change the controller configuration? I want to flip two buttons on defense. I buy these games every other year, because they really don't change on a 1-year basis, other than rosters. I was able to do it for NCAA 07, but I haven't figured out how to change buttons from the controller configuration screen.
Any help, or do I just have to deal with this one?
There a certain things that have been acknowledged that they will be patching. Everyone is having issues with the passing game - most people average between 75-80% completion. There's a patch coming out within a week or so to fix some glaring issues with roster updates causing teams to outright disappear from the game. They're also fixing an issue with depth charts reordering incorrectly. They've got a second patch in the works to fix other issues as well.
Also the AI varies and is supposedly much, much better on Heisman than All-American. Last and certainly not least, it's pretty freaking awesome to have all the band sounds during the game (see this post: http://www.operationsports.com/forums/ncaa-football-stadium-sounds/2542…)
yea not only is it retarded that you can complete 80% of your passes.... its even more idiotic that the incompletions come as random dropped passes in crucial moments or as passes that pass straight through a receivers hip and into the defensive back's hands.
Seriously, to anyone who hasn't bought this game yet, this game is absolutely ridiculous and the factor of skill/football knowledge factors into about 10% of the decision of who wins the game. It truly comes down to who the computer screws over or who has the ball last in 19 out of 20 games.
