Big Ten Recruiting Class Rankings 10-3-10
Yet another low-action week. Action since last rankings:
9-28-10 Notre Dame gains commitment from DaVaris Daniels.
If you see any errors in the individual tables, please let me know. I'm tempted to move Indiana down a bit, but their averages per commit are about even with (or only very slightly behind) the teams nipping at their heels, and they have more commits.

Rivals rankings are on the "RR" scale, which is on a scale from about 5 to about 6.1. Unrated prospects are given a 5.1 rating, on par with the worst of any Big Ten commit last year. Scout is on the 5-star system (unranked players earn one star), and ESPN uses grades out of 100 (unranked is 40 or 45).

it's sure gonna be weird seeing Nebraska in these rankings now. But they sure will help strengthen this conference even more.

...Dr. Phillips had a bye week. Other than that, I can't help you. You'd need one of his Facebook stalkers to comment on his weekend activities.

just noticed Indiana has as many MI recruits as MSU and more than Michigan.
One question is Ohio State out of schollies?
Thanks for the update
October 4th, 2010 at 12:56 AM ^
I believe OSU has 23 available.
There are 3 or 4 Glenville kids they're looking at, plus Doran Grant and a couple of out of staters.

Dr. Phillips Hambone, Branden Jackson, and Avery Walls will propel Michigan to #2

I thought RR was an awesome recruiter? Why are we not getting any 5's and very few 4's? I have a feeling that Hart will choose Bama this Friday. I say that based on how easily he seems to be impacted by the last place he visits, and his coach is a massive Bama fan, and Dix is headed to Bama. I hope my gut is wrong on this one.
October 3rd, 2010 at 11:33 PM ^
Read yellow box:
http://mgoblog.com/diaries/tomvh-demetrius-hart-hasean-clinton-dix-upda…
Another fabricated explanation could be that Dee's coach, the huge Bama fan as you noted, may have just said, 'Dee, I brought you this far, don't screw things up for me to see inside Bama, close and personal, before you commit to UM.' Maybe the coach knows Bama's staff well already, but if not, this is a great opportunity for the coach to go, show off his 2 prized recruits, and get Bama staff more to the HS, giving the coach's future players motivation to work hard because all these big schools are coming to town, which continues to make the coach look good with more wins and great players, lubricating his own pipeline.
Feel free to come up with your own crazy explanation. Hopefully UM the front runner with this talk of another Dee unofficial.

4 PSU commits, srsly? Are they low on available scholarships this year? Joe Pa potential retirement redux?
October 3rd, 2010 at 11:50 PM ^
Did you notice the past few years that Michigan flies under the radar a bit, then closer to signing day vaults up the recruiting rankings?
October 4th, 2010 at 9:58 AM ^
I think part of the problem is that at the beginning of the year there was rumors RR may not be back. So the recruits wait until the end to commit to Mich when there is more certainty.
October 4th, 2010 at 12:09 AM ^
we need some help on D . . . and fast. Need to win the recruiting battles before we will be able to consistently beat our rivals.
October 4th, 2010 at 9:44 AM ^
Is there any way you could also include a summary of the averages for the Top 5 recruiting classes in the country for comparison purposes?
October 4th, 2010 at 9:53 AM ^
Probably not, because that's going to be way more work than it's worth. Just assume that Ohio State and maybe Notre Dame will be right on the fringe of that top 5 at this point.
October 8th, 2010 at 9:59 AM ^
"Decision still coming Friday after the game," Hart said via text Thursday about 12:30. "Real high on Alabama. Roll Tide."
Let's just hope is messing with our minds.
