Where In The World Is David Brandon? Comment Count

The plane that may or may not have David Brandon and the crabby ghost of Don Canham aboard has returned to Baton Rouge, landing about fifteen minutes ago. Tiger Droppings scrambled F-16s

…but they apparently didn't make it. Meanwhile, the other plane that may or may not have Dave Brandon aboard is in Dallas, where a coaching convention is going on. So either Les Miles is approaching done or Brandon is in Dallas interviewing anyone who looks at him funny and the winged helmet plane heading to Baton Rouge every hour on the hour is just a bizarre coincidence.

Or both. It's likely that UM reps of some variety are in both places, so Les Miles is in play and they're talking but nothing is certain so they're trying to scout out backup plans.

Has to be contingent on DB (and LC if involved) being 100% certain that Les will clean up his act. Question is whether or not that actually hamstrings his recruiting/coaching ability for us.

Whether the hire is Miles or someone else, we need to unite the fan base and be supportive of the program. We know it matters to recruits, and I believe it can affect the current players as well.

It's not an excuse to do what everyone else does, just because .. if they all do it (minus UGA and Vandy), than that's okay, when it's not.  That said, he still wins football games in the toughest conference there is.  We should be talking about that, not ... when in Rome, again, if that is in anyway an excuse.

He'll have to change his ways, but...  I think he can.

Do we then assume that Les Miles is our (DB's) first choice if he wants to come?

PS: With all of the secrecy surrounding this why are we flying a fucking winged plane (I mean with Michigan wings, they all have the other kind)?

I have to say I'm not sold on Miles, but to me he beats Hoke by miles.  (Bad pun intended.)  That being said, The Big 10(12) has the signing rules will curb his over signing.  I could care less about his Michigan ties.  All I want is the best coach that we can get.  Someone that will bust their asses to get us back on top of the Big 10 and the nation.

I imagine Bo rolling over in his grave by the way people twist the meaning of his words when he said, "A Michigan man will coach at Michigan!"

.... you definitely hire the first guy you interview, no matter how lightly regarded he was before you interviewed him.

And then, when you have to fire that coach and get a new one, you do it again with someone who just has a better reputation.

Then, when you have to fire *that* coach, you take your time and mull over the possibilities, interview several candidates, and settle on the one who not only doesn't have any head coaching experience at any level, he doesn't even have coordinator experience at any level.

Three years ago I thought this flight tracker stuff was an amusing, wacky, obsessive diversion. It still is today but I find it oddly comforting that MGoLeader knows his readership well enough to provide the info. I hang on his every post.

... I'm going to embrace the hillarity of it all, and no longer be upset by any goings-on.  This has turned out to be hilarious -- and if it wasn't hitting so close to home i would enjoy this ride immensely.  Let the search continue!
