From DX so very solid:

Our analysis is that this is bad.

Michigan has a couple options to fill the roster spot Wilson is apparently vacating. Illinois State grad transfer Mikyle MacIntosh just withdrew his name from the draft; he's another high-usage, dubious efficiency lower level guy. This is mostly because of his two point shooting. He was 76/44/36 last year on 28% usage. He had a block rate similar to Wilson and could help patch that lineup hole.

The other option is Canadian SF/PF Ignas Brazdeikis, who is currently planning on being a 2018 recruit but is keeping 2017 options open.

UPDATE: It's official.

"D.J. and our coaching staff worked very hard over the last month to get as much information as possible on his draft status," said U-M head coach John Beilein. "Given the data and insight we received, D.J. is confident he is ready to take the next step in his basketball career. We love D.J., and he will always be a Michigan Wolverine. His development over the past three seasons, and particularly this past season, was phenomenal. With continued work, he shows great potential to improve in a similar manner in the NBA. We wish him and his family the very best, and we will always be rooting for him during this draft process and for all the years to come."

The fact a guy sat on the bench 2 years when it was clear he could play, then, when he has to play because nobody else can fill the spot, comes in and goes pro after one season says a lot about Beilein.

How in all hells was it clear he could play?

From what I recall he looked pretty lost out there especially his first year where they brought him on the court a bit a t first and then immediately redshirted him because he looked so lost. He was always going to be a late bloomer, let's just be glad he actually bloomed.

DJ is either talented, hard working, and intelligent enough to play in the league or he is not. Staying or going has no bearing on that fact.

I haven't seen this posted here yet,. Andy Staples has Wilson slotted to Utah at #25 in his mock draft in Sports Illustrated. The description seems reasonable.

"In the second half of the first round, there are two players I love. The first is Wilson, a rangy 6'10 forward—twitter handle: @Lanky_Smoove—who shot 37% from three this year and fits pretty perfectly with everything we know about where the NBA is going. He can help at the three or the four, he can switch on defense, and he's long enough to bother anyone in front of him. He could either be a solid fifth starter or a fun weapon off the bench, and either way, he's worth it in the 20s."

Even if Wilson and Wagner both stay this team was going to take a step back without Walton. As mentioned rebounding will be a huge issue. Walton carried this team the last month and a half of the season. Who is going to step up and be a leader?

Would have wanted him to return but he's got to make the best decision for him and his family. He did the work and deserves to get rewarded. Go Blue DJ.

Beilein needs to stop developing players during the season, we keep having half seasons of greatness and then people bolt.

I don't think he is physically ready but hey money is cool. Good luck to him, hope he makes it.
