One Frame At A Time: Purdue Comment Count

Ace

Derrick Walton might be good, you guys.

10. Sean Lonergan Will Never Hear The End Of This

Even John Beilein—John Beilein!—said after the game that he wanted Lonergan to take this layup opportunity. Make sure you watch Zak Irvin on the bench.

9. Moe Post Buckets

I didn't expect the most impressive post move of the game to come from a Michigan player, to be honest.

8. The Gnat

Walton called Wagner a "gnat" on defense after the game. It was fitting.

7. The Pleasantly Rare "Refs, What?" Moment

The officiating was quite good in this game, so we can look back on this reaction to the very questionable non-call on Isaac Haas fondly.

6. The Walk-Off

"Let's go, baby."

5. Coast To Coast

I'm not sure whether Walton hiding behind Vince Edwards before jumping the passing lane was intentional or a happy accident, but it worked out either way.

4. And-One

Derrick Walton might be very good, you guys.

3. Defense!/The Product Of Defense!

Part One:

Part Two:

2. The Leaner

Yes, Walton admitted after the game that he 100% expected this to miss.

FRAMES OF THE GAME: MOE THREEZY

Walton on Wagner: "He's a problem." Well put.

They kept getting confused about what Wagner was doing with his fingers and arguing over whether he was doing finger-guns or if he was flicking Purdue off or what. I just asked, "Haven't you guys seen Inglorious Basterds?"

I also had this discussion with the friends I watched the game with ha. Germans start with their thumb when counting on their hands. Great movie! It's sad though that the guy with the most swag and dog mentality on this squad is a gangly, white, giant who best talks trash in a different language lol. We'll see how far JB's finesse style can go this year. Live and die by the deep ball baby!

I was actually really impressed by Lonergan putting sportsmanship ahead of personal glory and backing off.  I agree with Coach Beilein -- nobody would have been upset by a walk-on senior taking that in to the basket on senior day -- which actually makes it even more impressive to me.  He followed his own internal ethics -- "don't shoot when we have a big lead and the shot clock is off" -- even when there wouldn't have been any repercussions for doing otherwise.

With that kind of attitude, that young man will go far in life.

Watching the GIF multiple times, I think in the back of his head, he sees Swanigan closing in to the hoop, and he decides he doesn't want to be a SC Not Top 10 story: Senior walk-on tries for free basket at end of game, Swanigan says No!".

painter is a fantastic example for UofM fans. a few years ago people were screaming for his head. here we are, his team is contending for a title and he has arguably the best player in the country. good coaches don't forget how to coach. fans are trigger happy, with no guarantee you will get a coaching upgrade.

What I love most about these GIFs is the player and fan reactions in the background, you can just see how much more energy and life is in this program now vs. a month ago.
