The Sponsors

This show is presented by UGP & The Bo Store, and if it wasn’t for Rishi and Ryan nobody would get our jokes. Our other sponsors are also key to all of this: HomeSure Lending, Peak Wealth Management, Ann Arbor Elder Law, the Residence Inn Ann Arbor Downtown, the University of Michigan Alumni Association, Michigan Law Grad,Human Element, and Lantana Hummus

1. North Carolina

starts at 1:00

People are there for a 9:30 p.m. tip on a Wednesday and Crisler has been *loud*. Lotta Carolina fans got to witness their team's defenestration too. Is Michigan a blue blood? When Poole is your "weak point" your defense isn't vulnerable. Teske five blocks vs one of the most athletic teams in the country. CM's fall-away from 10 feet is not our favorite shot but it's valuable as a late clock idea. Iggy segment starts at 16 minutes.

2. Purdue

starts at 29:52

Boilers' schedule is brutal to start. Teske vs. Painter: if he's going to hit threes from the top of the key Painter's got nothing left. Carsen Edwards had 50% usage. Poole is now on fire. Prevented a three-centric team from shooting them.

3. Hoops Season Outlook

starts at 52:36

Is this a Top Seed? Normally a Beilein team is operating like this in February. Big Ten is manageable, probably already played the highest ranked opponents on the schedule. Have a trip to Breslin in their future. Free throw shooting: if Matthews can stay at 70. Big Ten is good this year though.

4. Not Hockey

Starts at 1:14:50

Why can't we get these games on TV? What has Warde done? This would be a good thing to do. State plays with six goalies on the ice at a time. Gotta make some Grade A stops because nobody can live at .830. Gonna be an off year or two while we wait for Mel's guys to grow up.

Luke Maye vs. UM b-bball 2017 edition vs. 2018 edition is a microcosm of how this team went from a good defensive team with some vulnerabilities at the beginning of last season to an elite defensive team with seemingly no vulnerabilities early in this season.  There will be a game where somebody gets hot and makes a bunch of contested 3 - but I would not consider that a vulnerability.

I'm no basketball-ologist, but we've all seen this team go cold from behind the arc when they run into a zone that kills their offensive flow and shooting rhythm. For whatever reason, high-end programs seem to prefer exclusive man defense when they have the athletes to do so. It's teams like Holy Cross and the like that go into it knowing they can't keep up and bog Michigan down in a zone. Our defense will keep us in any game, but I'll bet a dollar that's what trips them up in the coming weeks. Somebody's going to throw a long-armed zone at them and win an ugly game a la the Nebraska aberration a year ago.

I think the fact that Castleton has played this year and they have run Johns at the 5 tells you what you need to know about Austin Davis.

Would love to see the freshman get a lot of run this December. Its been weird seeing starters in up 15 points with a couple of minutes left but once we get past South Carolina would like to see those guys getting run before the last two minutes.

We have a tendency to get too up or down as a fanbase. Call it the September Heisman phenomenon.

This team and program are elite caliber but we have a long way to go. Rather than debate whether they're elite we need to focus on filling Crisler and whatever tournament venues they play it. Queme los Barcos for the fanbase not just the team.

Win all the banners, then do the same come next football season. No more half steppin.

Yeah there are currently 4 teams you can pretty easily and justifiably rank over Michigan in Duke, Gonzaga, Kansas, and UVA and Duke and Gonzaga are better in just about any metric you look at. This is a really good team but as of right now they probably shouldn't be one of the 4 favorites for a #1 seed.

The wasteland that is U-M hockey on TV is disappointing. I think that's a result of having Big Ten hockey, for which BTN sucks. Back in the CCHA days, even Comcast would show a few games. And there was some school, forget which, that had a free stream. How the fuck did that small school have a free stream, and U-M has jack shit?!
