Brian

Yo: I was on The Solid Verbal's podcast the other day, talking for an extensive length of time about Michigan, the Big Ten, Mister Simpson, and NCAA 10. Podcast lives here.

I'm a big fan of the Solid Verbal podcast. I've missed the last few though (I usually only listen when I have long car rides by myself, which hasn't happened recently) and I had no idea that you were going to be on. I'll definitely check it out first chance I get.

Hey Brian you said Vlad seems to be penciled in as a starting safety, I was wondering if he impressed the coaches that much during the practices they had? Also, who looks to be in the lead for the other starting Safety spot?

I hope Threet makes all PAC-10 first team by his sr. year under Dennis Erickson! And then I hope he gets drafted high in the NFL! Same for Mallett! That guy, Threet, has a lot of justice on his side man. Threet was somewhat altruistic in my opinion last year. Namely because he was playing for a school he loved when getting called out socially by am offensive coach who'd been there one year! For a redshirt freshman, he took more than his share of blame. Knowing damn well he'd be forgotten and wrote off completely. He learned a great lesson last year that could really help that young man out long term. He wasn't coddled that's for sure. It's an endless debate about the bare cupboards. I get that. But I think when Steve Threet came in against Utah and dropped that pass to Hemingway in the corner, it said something. That CB was pretty good as well. Here's the thing, people judge you when you do great things with an empty cupboard, not a full one. I get CFB is about winning, but there is a game within the game as well. As good as Gardner, Forcier are and will be, I am still concerned by the handling of Threet. My opinion.

was put in a shitty situation. Threet knew that this year theyd bring in a true duel threat qb and he would probably be RRs guy. Threet went out and battled every game when he was injured and showed flashes at time. I think both parties handled it well and I applaud Threet for leaving honorably and I hope he gets all the tang and football success possible at ASU.

I respect your opinion and I hope Threet finds success at ASU, as well. However, just as you find it telling that he came in against Utah and threw that long TD to Hemingway... ...I find it telling that the play you remember him for took place in the very first game of the season. We like Threet because of his guts. We like him because of how hard he tried and how he behaved on his way out. He seems to be a class act who took a lot of lumps for our beloved Michigan Wolverines. But let's not pretend that the one throw against Utah made him a good QB. He still has a LONG way to go. I know you probably think I'm joking - and maybe I am, I don't know - but if you threw me out onto a college football field and gave me 200 passes in a game situation, I could probably make at least one look really pretty like that Threet-to-Hemingway TD.
