Justin Turner to Transfer Comment Count

See? Grim.

That rumor metastasized quickly: Tim reports that Dave Ablauf has just read a statement that Justin Turner has asked for and received his release to transfer. I blame myself for suggesting that this offseason had been a relatively tranquil one when it came to things that mattered.

It sounds like the 11 pounds Turner put on in the offseason were not the good variety, and that he was never in a position where he was physically ready to play because of sheer lack of desire. Odd for that to happen with a corner—usually it's linemen battling to stay under 350 that wash out because they're not interested in keeping up with the work.

Impact on the team bit: losing Turner is a terrible blow to a secondary short on everything; beyond the starters at corner Michigan has three freshmen, one of them highly touted and the other two middling three-stars, and vagabond James Rogers. Corner's the worst spot on the team to suffer attrition. Turner was a near five-star coming out of high school who killed people at the Army game; his disappearance from Michigan without so much as playing a snap ranks up there with the most disappointing recruiting flameouts ever.

If we had more depth after Floyd and Woolfolk who weren't true freshmen, this wouldn't be as big of a deal. Howeva, that isn't the case. On top of that, this was a near 5* recruit who was supposed to be the next shutdown corner. Maybe it was all they hype, and now that it won't be realized people are dissapointed. The big problem is that although he couldn't beat out Floyd, he had experience in the program and potential to succeed.

a bit thick skinned at this point. Who left? Whatever. Next man up. Whoever is next in line will have to step it up and the team has to move on. I agree that they should look at moving someone from WR to the other side of the ball... We are just going to have to score 35 points per game to win 8 this year.  The worse our Defense is, the better the Offense has to be to give us a chance.

to say a 5* recruit is dead weight is just flat out rediculous, to be a corner he has to be one of the best athletes on the field, I believe to say that he was unmotivated is foolish he obviously made it this far Who the hell transfers because he gained a lil weight NO-ONE maybe DickRod n his coaching staff showed try a lil harded to help motivate there younger players n shit i dont believe too many people would be motivate to play after coming off the past 3 seasons thats happened in A2.........
