Chris Barnett Also Gone Comment Count

Chris Barnett has tweeted that he is out:

No longer at the university of Michigan

A couple of commenters wondered if that might be a joke. It is not. I've heard from multiple sources that Barnett was not in practice and was considering leaving or actually had left the team. Now it's (all but) official. That's the third member of the incoming class to flame out before the first game. At least in this instance I'd forgotten to write a recruiting profile for him. I did fret about his association with Baron Flenory.

Barnett probably wasn't going to play this year after suffering an injury late in his high school season and showing up pushing 280 pounds. Like Posada, his departure is more of a big deal next year when Koger and Watson graduate. At that point the only non-freshman tight end on the roster will be Brandon Moore, who hasn't played a lick thus far in his Michigan career.

Michigan might have to delay this manball thing even longer than they wanted simply because they don't have the personnel to put a tight end on the field much.

UPDATE: There's also Ricardo Miller at TE, though he needs to spend the next year eating nothing but bacon grease if he's going to get up to a reasonable weight.

Shocking that by now somebody hasn't trotted out "But how does this impact our APR?" Because, with every note of attrition, somebody feels compelled to ask that. As if it really means something.

I'm guessing that Posada and Barnett didn't work hard enough during the summer.  As we all know Hoke likes to talk about accountability and toughness.  He has said that it all begins during off season conditioning.  Both of them reported to fall camp a little on the plump side.

...granted it's taped, but what the heck happened?!

Also, this is why you recruit in fricking BIG TEN COUNTRY. Kids don't get homesick as easily. Posada is from Florida, Barnett from Texas.

This one hurts, I thought Barnett was going to be the next great TE or OT at Michigan.

With that said:

23: O'Brien
24: Diamond
25: Darboh
26: Payton
27: Dunn/Wright

SHOCKED I TELL YOU. I thought after 494 high schools and his 3rd pick of college that THIS was finally the spot he'd stay.

In all seriousness though, this is football Alex Legion.

Dang Koger, you were his roomie, what up?  He said he wasn't home sick, playing time wasn't going to be an issue...

People need to stop insinuating that Hoke is running off guys.  I can't believe we keep going to this - I had enough with that before and Hoke basically said Posada was home-sick.  Stokes makes sense as he can sit out a year because he never redshirted and wasn't starting..

There are always individual reasons and none of us know them.  So 9 days....9 days until we can talk about what really matters...I can't wait.  Seems like 50/50 chance of bad news lately on this site.

I thought this kid had the potential to be great but always wondered if his rough upbringing would make things difficult for him during college.  The kid attended damn near half of the highschools in TX, this shouldn't be a shocker to anyone.  Much of our actions are the result of patterning from early childhood, this was about as predictable as rain in Seattle.  I'm not disparaging the kid, just pointing out the obvious.  I wish him well and hope he finds massive success somewhere.  Now, let's bring in R Thompson AKA Mr. Morris's favorite target.  Welcome:  Ron?

i wanted to start a new thread with this, but still can't...

Rerank the 2011 Recruiting Class:

IIRC, our 2011 class was ranked generally somewhere around 20-25 in the country by the scouting services - now we've lost Posada, Barnett and Jones from that list, and at least Barnett and Jones were a couple of the headliners from that class.

If we were re-ranked without those guys, where do those who are more familiar with recruiting than I am think we would have come in?  30?  Worse?  How bad or good does that class now look?

QB Russell Bellomy
RB Justice Hayes
RB Thomas Rawls
OL Chris Bryant
OL Jack Miller
DE Brennen Beyer
DE Keith Heitzman
DE Chris Rock
LB Frank Clark
LB Desmond Morgan
LB Antonio Poole
CB Greg Brown
CB Blake Countess
CB Delonte Hollowell
CB Raymon Taylor
S Tamani Carter
K Matt Wile

We're going to need some sleepers and some guys to really become those Jordan Kovacs/Ryan Van Bergan types.

With that said, I really think we can get some production from the RBs, the two OLmen (who IMO were better than Posada), Beyer - late in his career when he gets weight on him. I said from day .5 that Morgan was going to be the sleeper of this class and I'm happy to see him in the mix for PT as a freshman (I loved that he was a QB and LB...don't hate me for saying this...but I see a mini Tim Tebow, but on defense. Not in terms of the Heisman just a "football player," a SMART player and a great leader that our team will rally around)...Clark seems to be a sleeper. Poole I think can really play. Greg Brown got some experience in the spring and I think will be a guy that might not be a starter, but will be a consistent nickel/dime package DB. Hollowell/Taylor/Carter...I think 1 or 2 of those guys has to really develop.

But the two biggest names of this class IMO...Countess who I think will be a NFL talent and Matt Wile.

IF this can happen, this class will be fine...especially with the class that we have coming in. This class will be kind of the forgotten guys, the guys that you need to win championships, but people forget about.

Another one leaving who was rated very high. Oh just a RR recruit so no big deal. Brady Joke being such a success with the press and racking up on MICHIGAN men just forgot to take care of the new recruits. 4 star TE and go bye bye is just a sad day for the U. He has said in the past that he wanted to bring TEs back into the O but runs off a great recruit. Good Job????? Joke.

These were players that could help us and what did we get from the Joke is a great case of Anal Cranial Submersion. Joins Lloyd the liar in that group so called Michigan men.
