Let The Good Times Roll Thread

Submitted by jamiemac on

Michigan has made it to their final game of the season and their At Large Bid chances are blossoming. A team picked LAST by most pundits can finish as high as 4rth with a week to go. They have the best young backcourt in the league. And they're adding more talent next year to it.

It's going to be a long and fun weeklong buildup to the final game against Sparty. It will also be a fun week of scoreboard watching as we cheer against fellow bubble teams. Most will have to play this week, while Michigan rests and prepares for their finale.

In John Belein I Trust . It's March, It's his time. Go Blue. Beat Sparty. And Jinx To All You Other Bubble Teams.

But, most importantly, it's Saturday night, our hoops team kicks ass, so LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL. I expect this thread to be rolling strong when I get back home tonight. Unless Mr. Cook Muppets us, then I expect the party to be there........GO BLUE!!!

I am just wondering where all of the "Beilein's offense can't win games" and "Beilein can't recruit" fans are? This team is only going to get better and recruiting is picking up steam.  We have 2 of the top 5 freshmen in the B10 and one of the best point guards in the nation...who just happens to be a true sophomore. This team will be competing for the conference championship within the next 3 years. Raback it.

They're where they always are when the team is winning: telling everyone they "knew it all along." And if it ends in disappointment, they will be talking about Beilein's "deficiencies" again.

You are upset that Colorado, Butler, Kansas State, and Boston College won.

You are happy VCU, Alabama, Nebraska and Wichita State lost.

You want a Princeton loss with a Harvard win.

You want losses from as many as possible of UAB, Virginia Tech, Baylor, Utah State, Colorado State, Georgia, Illinois, Richmond, Duquesne, Gonzaga and Saint Mary's.

Huge bounce back win today. I really love how this team has matured throughout the season. Hardaway has blossomed into a fine player, and it has been fun to watch his stat-line improve over the course of the season. I think this team deserves to get an NCAA tournament birth, and I truly hope they get it. They need to beat the spartans and get a few wins in the Big Ten tournament now, then see what happens. They could be dangerous in the tournament. Obviously, we all would prefer that the team just win the BT Tourney so that we don't have to worry about it on selection sunday. Regardless of how the season ends from here on out, the experience these guys gained, especially for the freshmen, will pay off through their careers.

Fresh off the plane - get home, spark a J, then Novak Three, Steal, D. Morris incredible strategery, and win.

What a great afternoon.

I cant seem to get the music posted. If someone can do that for me, that would be RAD. Those familiar with my Good Times thread know what to do.

GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're at the point where if the tournament takes 6 BT teams, we are close to the only option, especially if we beat MSU next week.

Assuming OSU, WIsky, Purdue, Illinois, and MSU are in, we are battling for that 6th spot against PSU (who only has 15 wins and a game with OSU on Tuesday) and Minny (who is currently 6-10 in conference and has lost 7 of 8 down the stretch).

The recipe is simple, beat Sparty, win a game (preferably 2) in the BT tourney, go dancing.

Let's get it done!

Well in that case, Michigan would really have an amazing shot to get in.

I can't imagine that the BT wouldn't get at least 5 teams in right?

Man if Iowa can somehow beat Illinois today, we would be sitting really pretty in terms of our comparison to other conference teams.

MSU would be 9-9 in conference, with one of the toughest schedules in the country.  Their out-of-conference losses were to Duke, Syracuse, Texas, and UConn.  They also have very good wins against Washington (at a neutral site) and Wisconsin.  They are 9-10 against the RPI top 100.  They have to beat Iowa, but if they do lose to Purdue and Michigan, they should be able to get in with a win in the BTT.  Apart from the head-to-head, their resume is better than Michigan's right now.  If they go 1-2 down the stretch, they'll have an RPI in the mid-40s with lots of nice wins, plus one in the top-15.  They should get in.

See, I don't think all of those early-season losses will mean that much, and their most recent run is just not that impressive.  They were blown out by Syracuse, roughed up by Texas, and were more recently blitzed by Iowa and Wiscy.  Sure, they beat Wiscy, but that will be nearly 2 months old when the selections are made.  Plus, going 1-2 gets them to 17-13 heading into the B1G tourney, which isn't going to cut it.  I mean, GTown, St. Johns, Purdue, UNC, etc. all had similarly-tough schedules and are far better teams, so SOS alone won't be enough.  Again, I wouldn't shocked if MSU caught fire a bit and got in with 19-20 wins, but 17-18 wins with few marque victories down the line will make it very tough in terms of an at-large bid.

has captivated me.  Truly, akin to 06 football.  I am living and dying with them, and everybody is a freshman!!!!

Look out Sparty, we're comin for ya.

We need to root for them the beat either OSU (not happening) or Minnesota in their final games. They are 53 in RPI right now and we've already beaten them twice. If they can find a way to crack that top 50 that would give us potentially 5 Top 50 RPI wins if we beat State again. And that would really help the resume.

Hate to break it to ya, but if they beat Minnesota, then Minny will likely slip out of the top 50.  Still, assuming PSU gets in the top 50, four wins would be nice.

We need to beat MSU and then win our first B10 tourney game.  Then I like our chances.  Anything short of that and I won't be expecting a bid.

This team has crazy heart, bouncing back from the Wisc game to gut this one out.

Michigan students: please cut your vacation slightly short so you can make it to Saturday's game.

Anyone else with tickets: do not sell them to Spartans.  Period.

Zack Novak set Minnesota up for the steal. Brilliant

I don't get the meme,"M figured out how to win after the tough Wisconsin loss". M is 4-4 on the road in the Big Ten, they already know how to win close games. Secondly, Minnesota is an average team with Nolen out, so it is not like we went out and beat Duke on the road.

Loved the energy and effort plays by Vogrich and Christian in the first half, they were definite assets out there

Mclimans, keep shooting my man, might not come together until next season, but I gotta give you credit, you do get open.

I am upping my ranking for M, thought they were a top 64 team, nay, this is a top 40 team easy. Might not make the tourney, but they have acquitted themselves nicely

Why don't you get the meme that michigan figured out how to win after the tough loss?  A lot of teams on average struggle after heart breaking losses.  Michigan had their struggles in this game, but they finally finished a game nicely at the end.

I think the other reason why they mentioned michigan's road win struggles, because on the road with coach B they were 11-35 going into the game today.

Struggles on the road? Not this years team. 4 conference road wins, plus a win at Clemson. I thought it was a stretch for Jackson to imply some type of new close game presence emerging in this game, when it fact, it was just a re-affirmation that M is a good and tough team. Shit, make some free throws and the tourney bid is already wrapped up.

That road stat was misleading, though, because we're 5-5 on the road this season.  And we've actually won three in a row in Minneapolis.  Even if you throw in our two neutral-site losses, going 5-7 away from home isn't that bad.  We're a bubble team because we have five home losses.  That's too many.
