TomVH: Florida DB Deon Bush Offered by Michigan

Submitted by TomVH on

Florida DB Deon Bush was just offered by Michigan. This is a big offer, Deon is a big time prospect. Here's what he said about the offer.

I just got off the phone with the defensive coordinator, Greg Mattison, a few minutes ago. He said he liked my film, and they liked me so they offered me. This is a real big offer for me. Michigan, that's a great school. They have the Big House, a great fan base every year that's there no matter win or lose. They have real huge tradition, and one of the most dominant schools of all time.

Bush said he is going to try to visit, he'll sit down with his dad and figure out if he can.

If we offer all the top 100 prospects, we are bound to get twenty of them.  Hoke's first full class is going to be stellar.

Great, thanks.  It's hard to think a kid can be 6'4" 290 at a school like St. Ed's and be too far under the radar.  He's probably the biggest kid at one of the most highly scouted high schools in the nation.

If he already has a UM and WVU offer, he won't be under the radar very long.

Hypothetically, wouldn't it be the best approach to watch one position groups film a day (especially if you're probably watching 20+ kids tapes in that group alone) and have a meeting where you discuss all the various prospects of that position and who'd fit in best/ who'd be most interested in Michigan, etc. Not really sure how coaches approach HS students film on a day to day basis, but I feel like it'd be weird to watch all the various film of a position group on different days. Having it fresh in your head about each kids strengths and weaknesses seems logical, not sure if that's how it actually works... if anyone wants to clarify why it seems like defensive back day, I'm kinda curious.

to throw out a let of nets to catch big fish at this point.   Also, we are not necessarily looking for system guys anymore.  We are just looking for flat out talented football players.

RichRod obviously had his faults, but I found this statement of yours somewhat ridiculous:

"Also, we are not necessarily looking for system guys anymore."

Sure, there are guys (e.g., Jeremy Gallon) that map to the spread 'n shred better than whatever Borges plans on doing, but do you really think that Rodriguez and his staff often passed on talented players to take "system" guys?

tell you that he likes your film.    Better yet, how would  you like the guy to be your coach?  The defense is going to be big time and we need players like Deon to make it happpen.  Congratulations to Deon and his family.

Hell yea that would be a huge pick up however he did get one thing wrong. He said we are "one of the most dominant schools of all time." Correction WE ARE the most dominant school of all time

Bush is listed as a safety, but he looks like a corner to me.  He's got excellent hips and he's pretty thin.  I can't really see him bulking up a whole lot.

I am going to go cry in a corner now.

This may come as news to you, but not everyone is interested in the egotistical ramblings of a JV football coach and what he may have highjacked from his rivals premium account and plastered on his own makeshift blog as actual content.

I am happy you know how many guys are on the line in a 4-3, but not everyone on this board is stupid enough to think that what you type is worthwhile information.

You enjoy telling other people what your opinions are and passing them off as fact. Your presence here is in no way more or less imporatant than mine no matter what your tiny brain would manufacture. You break no news, you add zero content, your comments are brutally "here is your new opinion" -ish.

You may not be trying to be a complete asshole, but you are really very good at it. I would be very surprised and impressed if anybody in your real life could stand you for longer than three minutes. You are not the most important person in the world no matter if you have convinced yourself of that or not. In all likelyhood you are not even the most influental person in your culdesac. The sooner you realize that you are not as important as you think you are the better your sad little life will become.

TomVHs diary last week on whats happened to Michigans recruiting over the last few years, I really hope solid offers are going to solid players and we see 35-40% of them accept. I dont want 170 offers out there just to reel in 20 players or so. Identify the studs and do what it takes to get them in wings!

It seems to me that Hoke is offering higher quality talent.  By approximately this time in the past couple classes, we had commitments from guys like Greg Brown and Delonte Hollowell (both 3-stars) and Antonio Kinard (a 3-star who never qualified).

The vast majority of these kids seem like the kids we've offered this year look like 4- and 5-star prospects to me.
