TomVH: Florida DB Deon Bush Offered by Michigan
Florida DB Deon Bush was just offered by Michigan. This is a big offer, Deon is a big time prospect. Here's what he said about the offer.
I just got off the phone with the defensive coordinator, Greg Mattison, a few minutes ago. He said he liked my film, and they liked me so they offered me. This is a real big offer for me. Michigan, that's a great school. They have the Big House, a great fan base every year that's there no matter win or lose. They have real huge tradition, and one of the most dominant schools of all time.
Bush said he is going to try to visit, he'll sit down with his dad and figure out if he can.

Can't say the staff isn't going after big talent. Another kid with a huge offer sheet.
Realistic shot at him or was he just being polite?
February 16th, 2011 at 6:59 PM ^
There's probably a mutual interest if he's willing to travel from Florida to make a spring/summer visit. Hopefully a visit does happen.
February 16th, 2011 at 6:48 PM ^
he is a gamer. We could use him this year.
February 16th, 2011 at 6:50 PM ^
I wonder if they are looking at him as a safety
February 16th, 2011 at 7:11 PM ^
What makes you think he's being looked at anywhere else? Every school I've seen is looking at him at safety, and that's how he's listed everywhere I think.
February 16th, 2011 at 6:52 PM ^
If we offer all the top 100 prospects, we are bound to get twenty of them. Hoke's first full class is going to be stellar.
February 16th, 2011 at 7:07 PM ^
That's not really the way recruiting works. There are kinda 30+ schools in competition for the top 100 kids. Landing 3 or 4 of them is a big deal.
February 16th, 2011 at 7:16 PM ^
It was the perils of the recruiting trail.
February 16th, 2011 at 6:53 PM ^
They must have watched only DB videos today.
February 16th, 2011 at 6:58 PM ^
Also offered an OL today. Didn't see it posted anywhere else.
February 16th, 2011 at 7:14 PM ^
I'm not finding this Tyler Orlosky you speak of in the Rivals database. Link?
February 16th, 2011 at 7:16 PM ^
No Rivals profile. Scout is linked. Looks like a bit of a sleeper. Akron and WV are the only other offers but interest from bigger programs as well.
February 16th, 2011 at 7:30 PM ^
Great, thanks. It's hard to think a kid can be 6'4" 290 at a school like St. Ed's and be too far under the radar. He's probably the biggest kid at one of the most highly scouted high schools in the nation.
If he already has a UM and WVU offer, he won't be under the radar very long.
February 16th, 2011 at 7:41 PM ^
Hypothetically, wouldn't it be the best approach to watch one position groups film a day (especially if you're probably watching 20+ kids tapes in that group alone) and have a meeting where you discuss all the various prospects of that position and who'd fit in best/ who'd be most interested in Michigan, etc. Not really sure how coaches approach HS students film on a day to day basis, but I feel like it'd be weird to watch all the various film of a position group on different days. Having it fresh in your head about each kids strengths and weaknesses seems logical, not sure if that's how it actually works... if anyone wants to clarify why it seems like defensive back day, I'm kinda curious.

to throw out a let of nets to catch big fish at this point. Also, we are not necessarily looking for system guys anymore. We are just looking for flat out talented football players.
February 16th, 2011 at 7:13 PM ^
RichRod obviously had his faults, but I found this statement of yours somewhat ridiculous:
"Also, we are not necessarily looking for system guys anymore."
Sure, there are guys (e.g., Jeremy Gallon) that map to the spread 'n shred better than whatever Borges plans on doing, but do you really think that Rodriguez and his staff often passed on talented players to take "system" guys?
February 16th, 2011 at 7:18 PM ^
Talented guys for system guys, he just preferred super athletic kids that can play safety and linebacker and d-lineman that can play linebacker.

Ahh the glory days of middle school.

"Win or lose"
Mostly Win, with some bumps in the road the last few years. But mostly Win.

a lot of offers going out already for 2012 guys............confident the coaches can land a few of these higher profile kids.

to see us still recuirting the great state of Florida.GO BLUE!!!
February 16th, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^
tell you that he likes your film. Better yet, how would you like the guy to be your coach? The defense is going to be big time and we need players like Deon to make it happpen. Congratulations to Deon and his family.

February 16th, 2011 at 9:31 PM ^
for this defense to grow back into a stout 43 defense and seeing monster defensive linemen along with 210-225lb Linebackers! Defense wins..period!!
February 16th, 2011 at 9:35 PM ^
Hell yea that would be a huge pick up however he did get one thing wrong. He said we are "one of the most dominant schools of all time." Correction WE ARE the most dominant school of all time
February 16th, 2011 at 10:35 PM ^
Bush is listed as a safety, but he looks like a corner to me. He's got excellent hips and he's pretty thin. I can't really see him bulking up a whole lot.
February 17th, 2011 at 8:07 AM ^
Shouldn't one of you morons be bitching about how we are losing the in-state recruiting battle and still offering kids in Florida? FLORIDA?!?! WHY!??!!?
February 17th, 2011 at 8:23 AM ^
You have totally gone off the deep end, Tom Hagen style.
Maybe you ought to take a break from posting for awhile. Let your head clear up a little bit. Do some meditation. Lose the bitterness.
February 17th, 2011 at 8:48 AM ^
Maybe you should stick to telling your kids what to do and leave my life up to me.
February 17th, 2011 at 9:11 AM ^
I'm not telling you what to do. Just making suggestions.
There used to be people who enjoyed your presence here. I think the number of those people is dwindling.
February 17th, 2011 at 9:29 AM ^
I am going to go cry in a corner now.
This may come as news to you, but not everyone is interested in the egotistical ramblings of a JV football coach and what he may have highjacked from his rivals premium account and plastered on his own makeshift blog as actual content.
I am happy you know how many guys are on the line in a 4-3, but not everyone on this board is stupid enough to think that what you type is worthwhile information.
You enjoy telling other people what your opinions are and passing them off as fact. Your presence here is in no way more or less imporatant than mine no matter what your tiny brain would manufacture. You break no news, you add zero content, your comments are brutally "here is your new opinion" -ish.
You may not be trying to be a complete asshole, but you are really very good at it. I would be very surprised and impressed if anybody in your real life could stand you for longer than three minutes. You are not the most important person in the world no matter if you have convinced yourself of that or not. In all likelyhood you are not even the most influental person in your culdesac. The sooner you realize that you are not as important as you think you are the better your sad little life will become.
February 17th, 2011 at 9:47 AM ^
I don't live on cul-de-sac, thank you very much.
February 17th, 2011 at 10:06 AM ^
You insult the Dude and everything he stands for everytime you post on this board.
February 17th, 2011 at 10:32 AM ^
are extremely annoying and I am sick of your shit.
February 17th, 2011 at 11:05 AM ^
"..otherwise, you can move your wife, children.......and your mistress......to Vegas"
February 17th, 2011 at 9:00 AM ^
TomVHs diary last week on whats happened to Michigans recruiting over the last few years, I really hope solid offers are going to solid players and we see 35-40% of them accept. I dont want 170 offers out there just to reel in 20 players or so. Identify the studs and do what it takes to get them in wings!
February 17th, 2011 at 9:20 AM ^
It seems to me that Hoke is offering higher quality talent. By approximately this time in the past couple classes, we had commitments from guys like Greg Brown and Delonte Hollowell (both 3-stars) and Antonio Kinard (a 3-star who never qualified).
The vast majority of these kids seem like the kids we've offered this year look like 4- and 5-star prospects to me.
February 18th, 2011 at 11:41 PM ^
Agreed deff higher rated players being offered, I hope they keep it that way.
