OT: Where is Davion Rogers
Am wondering if anyone knows whatever happened to LB Davion Rogers ? I know he is not on the roster and left the team, but I have heard no word of transfer, and also wonder if he is still enrolled, and whether or not Hoke would take him back if he qualifies to play. Reason I ask is because he looked a future gem. Thanks.

Reading that post again about all the players who left before the season started (Dorsey, Jones, Rogers, Kinard, and White) still depresses me about RR's recruiting.

never made it to campus, for the record.

Neither did Jones.

reading posts about Lloyd's last recruiting classes.

From what I remember, Austin White told the coaches to f' off when he fumbled three times in a drill and they sent him to the bench. That's not a product of recruiting.

a product of ignoring every red flag that people were throwing up about white and his character issues...

White definitely had character issues, but RR has a track record of straightening kids like him out, at least as long as they're under his supervision.

you've been able to help a few kids out doesn't mean you can help every kid... RR was getting into a bad habit of bringing in kids that either had questionable academics and or character issues.. he lost 4 kids in one class because of one or the other... go back and look at each one of his recruiting classes and there is at least one kid that either didn't get into school or left the team after one year for one of the reasons i mentioned above (i'll sort of give him a pass on 2008 because o'neill and wermers were LC recruits)...

this has happened (at least one kid leaving) with nearly every recruiting class in Michigan history for as long as official recruiting classes have existed.
4 kids in one class is bad, but an outlier.

is what's wrong with kids today. RR had it right.

Definitely a guy with lots of "upside" ... will be interesting to see how he turns out.

How about that Mallet kid? I think we should take him back too if he wants to play here again.
Anybody heard what's up with him?
February 13th, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
I beleive he was last seen taking a leap out of the draft stock airplane with a cinder block strapped to his back.
February 13th, 2011 at 5:35 PM ^
Dropping to the second round and will only make like, i dont know, 2 mill a year?
February 13th, 2011 at 7:10 PM ^
Probably half that. Jimmy Clausen dropped to the second round and signed 4 years/$4 million with $2.2 million guaranteed.
Not to mention that depending on when the CBA is resolved there may be a rookie cap.

A good showing in the combines can change that...

Last time i checked, a player by the name of Tom Brady went in the 6th round. He makes a decent living. People need to get rid of the idea that you have to be drafted in a higher round. I am in no way saying the kid is as talented as Tom Brady. I am just saying, the round you are drafted in, only determines your first contract.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:33 AM ^
True. You have to factor in the average lifespan of a pros career tho. That first contract means a lot to most players and we are talking 4-6 years. Plus you can not compare every late pick with Tom Brady. Later drafties i would imagine have a much higher fail rate than early rounders.

get himself straightened out before everyone starts getting their combine stopwatches out. sheesh.
hopefully being closer to home he'll get support. unfortunately for sooo many kids from around here it doesn't usually work like that.

It's the main reason why I left the Mahoning Valley. It's a blackhole and many people can never prosper in such an environment.

Who this is ?

I believe he's the silent coach in waiting for Clemson.
