TomVH: LB Vince Biegel Offered
Wisconsin LB Vince Biegel (6'3", 210 lbs) was offered by Michigan yesterday, according to his head coach Tony Bioli. "Vince called Michigan yesterday and talked to Greg Mattison and then Brady Hoke, and they gave him a verbal offer. I think that's probably a big school in his book," said Coach Bioli.
Biegel now has 8 or 9 offers including BYU, Wisconsin, MSU, and Minnesota. There are some interesting factors with Vince's recruitment, and relationships to each school. "BYU is where his dad played, Wisconsin is obviously instate, and Greg Mattison has some contacts here in the Rapids area. I believe Mattison might have recruited Vince's dad back in the 80's as well. We're familiar with his name here, and he has some friends in the area," Bioli said.
Vince was a Baltimore Ravens fan when Mattison was the defensive coordinator, which is another bonus for Michigan. Biegel doesn't want his recruitment to play out too long according to his coach.
Biegel is scheduled to go to Wisconsin next week, BYU over spring break, and will be scheduling a visit to Michigan soon as well.

Hopefully there are no holes in Biegel's play or any sign of him dogging it.

Since he's visiting BYU, does that mean he's mormon? If so, what are his plans regarding a mission?

Does anyone think he should be playing the piano at some casino in Atlantic City?

I assumed I still couldn't either. I could swear the comment box was still missing earlier this evening...
All the times I felt frustrated I couldn't comment and here I can't think of anything to say that doesn't involve puns with dogs and round chewy breakfast pastries.

He looks like he's coached better at the high school level than any of Michigan's linebackers were for the past few years.

I used to live in Wisconsin Rapids and went to high school there, the town where Biegel is from and the coach isn't terrible. They did make it to the state championship and were leading (junior) John Clay's team at half time. However, at halftime John Clay went off and they lost... I believe he did also coach a kid who went to Stanford and spent some time on the practice squad of New Orleans and San Fransisco.

I haven't seen any film and the rankings aren't really out yet but I would have to assume Biegel is a pretty elite LB. We are at the point, after this years recruiting class, to be pretty selective with our offers at this position.

a Mormon? not that there is anything wrong with that. it's just UM doesn't need a LB to bolt for the Sudan for a year.
