February 4th, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
Another penalty on Miami
February 4th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
So i noticed that at 1:05 left in the period, I heard the chant "How Much Time Is Left."
Is this common throughout college hockey, or something that they stole from us?
February 4th, 2011 at 8:21 PM ^
miami's student section is infamous for "borrowing" cheers. With that said, the majority of our cheers are "borrowed" from Cornell...
February 4th, 2011 at 8:23 PM ^
carefully. That particular cheer is pretty common, but they stole EVERYTHING from us (minus the C-ya chant, I don't think they could make out exactly what we were saying). Kinda like we took everything from Cornell. Except, we know that we took everything from Cornell and we've added/modified a little since. Miami took most of the Yost cheers verbatim (including the yipyip on the PK!) and every Miami fan I've talked to is convinced that they came up with them on their own.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:30 PM ^
At least our stuff now isn't exactly the same as Cornell's, but Miami honestly took like everything from us. Then they deny it if you ask them about it.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:41 PM ^
exactly. We came up with the yip yip thing on our own when we played BU when they had Brandon Yip (now with the Avalanch).
February 4th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
Wait. "Bad boys" on the PA when Miami goes on the power play? Gross.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:18 PM ^
good period. nice to see sparty bob is in Oxford.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
Need to do a better job of keeping possession.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:28 PM ^
I still don't really like Rico so much, but he gets buku bonus ponts for his words about Brendan Burke during the intermission feature.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:33 PM ^
Shots 16-6 Michigan in the first. Let's keep that up in the 2nd. Go Blue!
February 4th, 2011 at 8:43 PM ^
get a f:cking score please?
February 4th, 2011 at 8:45 PM ^
1-0 Michigan, 2nd period. NTM going to power play.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
Better calls have been made. And as I write this, Michigan's pk implodes badly and Miami scores.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:49 PM ^
typical CCHA incompetence. I have seeing better reffing in pee wee noncontact reffing. This ga,m is fixed.
fuck it I am going to go drink
February 4th, 2011 at 9:03 PM ^
When playing Miami, I'll take CCHA incompetence over Hockey East incompetence any day.
Yep, I'm still mad about that.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
WTF....was that. So they can take head shots after incidental contact (I am not arguing the GI)....BUT THAT WAS HORSESHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HORSESHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 4th, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
Well crap. 1-1 Miami scores on a PP goal after an iffy goalie interference call (I thought he was pushed into the goalie..)
February 4th, 2011 at 8:48 PM ^
Goalie interference, really? There were two Miami players that ran straight into Moffatt who was stopped before that. Poor, poor call that led to a Miami goal. I really despise the back ref some of the time.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:50 PM ^
paul sergott is one of the worst refs in the country. I am not surprised by his dick call.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:51 PM ^
they displayed the refs, the first thing I thought was, "Sergott... really?"
February 4th, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
Shegos, Sergott all of em.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:48 PM ^
Winnett for tripping in the offensive zone. Another Miami PP
February 4th, 2011 at 8:49 PM ^
This sucks. I hate Bad Boys already.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:52 PM ^
molina needs to go on the subway diet
February 4th, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
WTFFFFFFFFFFFFF
February 4th, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
STAY OUT OF THE DAMN PENALTY BOX!
February 4th, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
Pateryn for tripping. Regardless, our PK unit is reeling. We've been sloppy in the defensive zone and our unit isn't showing any discipline at all.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
For those wondering, still tied at 1 but Michigan has gotten three straight penalties. Awful reffing. Fuck this!
February 4th, 2011 at 8:57 PM ^
Ref's are picking and choosing what they want to call. Gotta call 'em (or dont) both ways.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
Yeah, that would be what happens when your PK unit plays badly against a really good PP unit. Well, if your goalie's playing well that is. Otherwise they score immediately and it doesn't matter.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
Treais again!! 2-1 us!!!
February 4th, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
WOOOOO LONG WRIST SHOT 2-1 MICH
February 4th, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
Treias scores his second of the game from the blue line! great shot!!!
2-1 BLUEEEEEE
February 4th, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
Goal! Treais! Nasty!
February 4th, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
AJ Treais from the blue line. 2-1 Michigan
February 4th, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
Miami has a 0 goal differential in the third period (it's their worst). They're at their best in the 2nd period and we're at our worst. If we can get through this, we certainly stand a good chance of winning in the third (our best period).
February 4th, 2011 at 9:00 PM ^
WOOOOOOOOO!
I hadn't ever cared about a hockey game until Michigan's run last year, and now I find myself very emotionally invested in them even though I don't understand anything that's going on.
February 4th, 2011 at 9:07 PM ^
The key to good hockey is good passing. If you can keep the puck away from the other team, you can control the flow of the game and force the other players into unfavorable matchups. Sort of like soccer.
Some types of hits are legal. I think checking with the body is generally OK but whacking someone with your stick isn't. One of the tougher penalties to figure out is icing, which is something you see typically in penalty kill (PK) situations where the D wants to get the puck out of there as fast as they can. Icing is where you are standing behind your own goal and hit the puck all the way down the ice to the other team's behind-the-net area. (There's a word for it but I don't know what it is.) The penalty for icing is a face-off in your defensive area at one of the red circles. Other penalties have the dreaded 2-minute routine, where you have to sit out the game for 2 minutes. A lot of goals get scored during those times. If you're down a player (or 2!) you want to try to kill the penalty and not get scored on, and vice versa if you're a man up. Sometimes at the end of games teams will pull their goalies for an extra attacker if they're desperate for another goal.
