Hoke on running backs..

Submitted by JTGoBlue on

He said during the press conference today that high school running backs tend to be the best athletes on the team..and sometimes that can translate to being effective at other positions in college.  So I'm thinking about #20.  A gold star to all of those who remember...

So, my question: who on the current roster could make a switch from RB to another position?

Teric = DB?

Cox = LB?

Grady = receiver?

Thoughts? Others?

You're talking about Ian Gold.

Teric Jones has switched between corner and RB every year since he got on campus.

Kelvin Grady is already a receiver.

Hopkins and Rawls could switch to linebacker I guess, but you could probably say that about any hefty running back.

Teric Jones was already tried at DB - he isn't good there.

Cox - it's a little late and theres a good chance he's the best back next year - plus we just recruited a dozen LB.

Grady - already a WR.

Hayes, Shaw or Smith could feasibly be used at WR.

There's been talk of Hopkins at FB but it seems unlikely.

Rawls played some LB in high school but who didn't, also he's short.

I'd guess all our RBs stay at RB.

Justice Hayes could probably play CB, but I think we have enough youth at most of the defense positions outside of the DL.  Since I don't see a RB or WR turning into a DT any time soon, I say we give the young guys that are there a chance to develop.

I just want some linebackers that are...linebackers.  No more experiments/hybrids for now.  Just some linebackers that can fill holes and tackle, please.

Fortunately it looks like there is a few of those in this class.

with Rawls (underrated 3-star) and Hayes in this class we should expect to see the running game of the Carr era come back.  Fred Jackson manages to always create a top-notch back when were running the pro-style

So I was thinking what if, by some sort of blessing from God, that Rawls and Hayes became the next Ronnie Brown/Cadillac Williams combo for Borges?

Just a thought/prayer...
