OT: Fanhouse: NCAA to Hit Tennessee, Kiffin With Failure to Monitor

Submitted by AAB on

From Clay Travis:

The NCAA will cite the University of Tennessee's football program with a failure to monitor a violation stemming from the short tenure of former head coach Lane Kiffin, multiple sources close to the investigation both inside and outside the university told FanHouse.

The violation is related to improper recruiting contacts by Vol coaches and by Vol hostesses in the since-disbanded Orange Pride program. What's more, in a stunning development that reaches across the country and implicates another of the nation's most-storied programs, the NCAA will also cite Kiffin, now at USC, with a failure to monitor charge as well as additional citations against Kiffin's brother-in-law, David Reaves, formerly an assistant quarterbacks coach at Tennessee.

I'm shocked, shocked! to find that gambling is going on in here.

So what's the punishment on Kiffin then?  I'm not so worried about Tennessee, but I need to see USC fall sooner rather than later.  My USC alum* brother-in-law has been ripping on Michigan for four years now, and I need something to shut him up.  The more they pile on USC, the better.

*he never actually graduated.

The next time the NCAA acutally puts some teeth behind these claims and punished Kiffin and wherever he currently works would be the first time.  Until then, I doubt anyone will stop this.

Sampson was hit pretty hard at Oklahoma before he ever came to Indiana. Then he had a few minor violations at Indiana... and a year later all hell broke loose when he violated things again. We can all enjoy the fall that Lane Kiffin is taking, but it's unrealistic to think he will receive anything more than Sampson did for his first major misstep, at Oklahoma.
