I thought the exact same thing as I watched the Bengals on that site every time we were blacked out this year. This really sucks as I am sure that most of our home games, if not all, will be blacked out again this season. Yay Mike Brown!

Prosecuting the owners of the website is different than forcefully shutting it down. This is yet another overstep of Federal power in my opinion.

The domain name seizure for pirate sites is a new piece, from November 2010. Copyright is what gives them the excuse.

I live in graduate housing of a major American University which does not offer a dorm cable service, and instead of getting Comcast and paying out the nose -just- for TV, I've been watching everything over the internet this year.

I don't.
We follow just a couple TV Series (Archer, Hawaii 5-O, Boardwalk Empire and Sons of Anarchy and V). It is cheaper to just buy the seasons off of Amazon/iTunes, for $2.99 an episode I can get it in HD with no commercials and watch it any time I want. Much better than paying out the nose for whatever Comcast level package would be need for HBO and HD.
Movies I get via Netflix and of course there is ESPN3 for many sports. For the rest I stream.
I have a 1080p TV but it is only connected to the XBox and the media computer. I see no reason to blow 80-100 dollars a month to watch reruns. I'd gladly pay ESPN and FSN a monthly fee to stream their channel but until then I pirate the stream.

Hey GOVERNMENT. How about you do something about the effing monopoly DirecTV has on NFL Sunday Ticket. Some of us can't get freaking DirecTV and I'm forced to use stream sites to get a service available to other Americans. Allow Sunday Ticket to be released to cable and you'd have one less user of pirated sites. As it is, I will continue to violate copyright law to watch NFL Red Zone until you make it available for my purchase, when I will happily shell out the exorbitant amount necessary to acquire said service.

Maybe, maybe if the material was widely available on TV, maybe I can sympathize with the companies. I know I used that site frequently because I don't have cable, but many other people have cable and can't watch all the NFL games, or they may be blacked out because the NFL is being ridiculous, or a carrier doesn't carry Big Ten Network, etc.
A lot of people were really mad about the soccer though, now that football is over they wanted that site for SPL games and stuff like that. And that stuff isn't broadcast on American television

The NFL contracts with DirecTV for exclusive coverage of all NFL games, and that is why they are solely available on DirecTV (with the obvious exception of the NFL-managed "Red Zone" channel, which was recently created). DirecTV pays a hefty sum for that privilege.
Before you go and start suggesting that the government "do something about the effing monopoly DirecTV has on NFL Sunday Ticket" you might want to read up on the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961:
The antitrust laws, as defined in section 1 of the Act of October 15, 1914, as amended (38 Stat. 730) [15 U.S.C. 12], or in the Federal Trade Commission Act, as amended (38 Stat. 717) [15 U.S.C. 41 et seq.], shall not apply to any joint agreement by or among persons engaging in or conducting the organized professional team sports of football, baseball, basketball, or hockey, by which any league of clubs participating in professional football, baseball, basketball, or hockey contests sells or otherwise transfers all or any part of the rights of such league’s member clubs in the sponsored telecasting of the games of football, baseball, basketball, or hockey, as the case may be, engaged in or conducted by such clubs.

I'm teaching English in South Korea and my lifeline was atdhe, I am loosing the will to live. Oh well I guess I can always watch Winter Olympic Speed Skating re-runs and K-league soccer. BARFFF!!! I hope the new domain sticks, stupid government, why don't you do something useful for once?
