Predictions

....of how many beers you are going to consume on opening day. I'm thinking about 10-12 if we win and 15+ if we lose. And yes I realize the title of this thread is misleading, but that was the joke because I'm sick of reading retardedly optimistic predictions that have us winning as many games or more than last season during a transition year.

Are we counting like the whole day?  Or just throughout the game?  Because the game is pretty early (for me at least) and if I start drinking at noon and go through bar time, I'll hit the 20 mark for sure.  If we lose, I'm going to burry myself in the sand.  I'll wear my watch so that the old guy walking around with a metal detector finds me.

Well I'm a student so I start at like 8-9 AM on game day. This usually requires a late afternoon nap to stay functional for saturday night. I was just referring to the period around and after gametime where everyone is pre-gaming/tailgating. I guess counting the entire day would be more interesting, but Saturday night will end up being shots followed by beer for me. And if we lose (or win by a huge margin) it'll be shots followed by shots.

I know I like you because your beer totals are essentially the same win or lose, and really, that's the whole point of football saturday.

It really comes down to drinking in celebration or drinking to forget what happened on the football field. I prefer the celebratory kind myself, but beer is a magical drink regardless.

AWESOME TOPIC - I can't stress my man love for this topic enough.  Thank you for bringing it up -

Now since this is going going to be a 3:30 start - I'm gonna go with probably around 6 first half beers.  Now if we start getting our ass kicked during the second half the beer intake will increase, but if it is a close game I'll try to keep enough braincells to understand what is happening - probably 10-12 for a win 12-16 for an L.

But what beers will be stocked in your fridge? Game 1 of a transition year...do you go with a generic Bud/Coors/Miller Light varietal, greater poundability being a speculative necessity, or the more nuanced and refined taste of, say, a Bell's Oberon to celebrate in refined and Ann Arbor (elitist) taste a Michigan victory? For me it will be both.  And lots of wings and chips.  Wings and beer-helmets to cheer the winged-helmets.

...hands down. I'll be so nervous on 8/30 I'll be drinking light beer like its going out of style.

I'll keep a couple elitist beers in the back of the fridge to drink if we win.

In 1997 I was on a real Molson's kick.  I'd always have a few in the fridge for post game.

The positive association with Molson's and National Championships (plural because I hope I don't have to wait another 50 years for the next one) is pretty compelling for me.
