Jacob Fisher decommits for now

Submitted by Dreisbach1817 on

This is not good news.  Fisher is a huge deal for this class.  Hoke needs to find a way to keep him in this class.  While this may just be semantics (since he's visiting other schools, he's not committed), I'm thinking that his mind changed this weekend.

The competition looks stiff: Oregon, Florida, Michigan State.  Fisher visited State this weekend and had good things to say about it.

I honestly believe that Fisher should be target #1 for this team right now.  He is that important.  In fact, he is our only pure Tackle in this class (Posada likely a guard, and if Bryant comes, a Guard too).

God help us all.

Ok, I don't want to be the voice of reason.  I think it would be VERY impressive for Brady Hoke to keep this class whole.  If he got 18 recruits I would be unbelievably impressed.  I would consider him one of the greatest recruiters ever if he pulled that off.

The reality is that he is not a known name.  The fact that he knows local high school coaches will help next year not this year.  He will literally be forced to close only those who are currently committed and try to push some others over the finish line.  I don't know where this confidence comes from but I believe he will do a great job.  I think if Jim Tressel couldn't close his first class very effectively then Brady Hoke will have a very tough time with his first class.  If Hoke does a better job than Tressel did closing this first class, then watch out gentlemen...

I will also say that the defensive coordinator hire is much, much more important than Jake Fisher...

What to do yo expect when you hire your coach 3 weeks before the first signing day!  Hopefully BH can try to salvage what we had and pick up a few other 3 stars? I'm still holding out hope for a great DC hire. DB, it's time to spend some of the extra money you saved on BH.  If BH can get an outstanding recruiting class next year I won't be too unhappy about the way this class seems to be shaping up!  What would really help recruiting for next season will be finishing with 9 or 10 wins and victories over MSU and OSU!!!!

Great tradition.  Great  Education.  New coach that preaches toughness on the O and D line.  Need depth on O and D line ... decomitt.  Say What.  Not really clear on the D guys.  I can understand a slot or minature RB leaving but D???  If they don't get what A Michigan degree and playing football a Michigan means, then maybe its their loss.
