Flood of coaching news tomorrow?
Did we really not get any news on DC, QB coach, WR Coach, DB coach? Are they going to just name them all at once or are they having trouble finding people? I thought for sure we would hear some news on at least 2 of these position coaches this weekend. Anyone know what's going on? Seems like Loefller would be a shoe in, but I guess not. Teryl Austin - unemployed.....come on!!!!
Yeah I know. I'm impatient.

I heard it was going to be an avalanche but whatever.
January 16th, 2011 at 7:47 PM ^
Interesting. I heard news would be delivered by a plague of locust.

The news for Michigan was delivered in a mushroom cloud. Smoking guns were also involved.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:06 PM ^
I deny any allegations of personal involvement.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
The new will be delivered via loaner cars driven over 6 hours away.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:55 PM ^
someone say mushroom cloud??
January 16th, 2011 at 7:42 PM ^
They'll tell you when they damn well please.
January 16th, 2011 at 7:55 PM ^
Seconded.

team meeting in progress right now. Started at 7pm. Could be to let them know of some things? Maybe?
January 16th, 2011 at 7:51 PM ^
Where'd you here this?
January 16th, 2011 at 7:55 PM ^
Vinopal tweeted it earlier along with others.
January 16th, 2011 at 7:56 PM ^
Okay, thanks. Yeah, hopefully we find out later tonight or tomorrow afternoon...
January 16th, 2011 at 7:58 PM ^
We should have some news soon then. What would we do without these social networking sites? We would be in the dark.
January 16th, 2011 at 7:59 PM ^
my bad/mistake, because they are thinking about moving Bill Will back to offense and Q to defense, again....
January 16th, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
Possibly. Rivals Premium board did say a few preferred D-Coords have been offered but declined. All the knowledge I know to any coaching hires.
January 16th, 2011 at 7:49 PM ^
I have to think that they'll be naming quite a few coaches next week, but who knows at this point.
January 16th, 2011 at 7:51 PM ^
for Shannon
January 16th, 2011 at 7:52 PM ^
I thought we might hear something this week end as well. Either this whole process has been a bit drawn out or fucked up if you will or I am just so clueless that is why none of this has made any sense to me. Now I know I have never been an AD but I know a cluster fuck when I see one.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
the latter.
January 16th, 2011 at 7:53 PM ^
might be good to have some coaches in place with NSD a few weeks away.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:01 PM ^
That is my point. We need to get this staff in place ASAP, in order to start getting out there and recruiting. It's hard to sell a kid when they can't even meet their position coach. We still have some needs that haven't been filled yet by this class and I would like to see this staff have at least a fighting chance to do so.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:16 PM ^
Just like silent commitments and firing coaches, I am always amused about fans that think things aren't happening just because some media bobo hasn't come out and issued a press release.
These dudes might all be hired already, just because they haven't announced it doesn't mean anything.
January 16th, 2011 at 7:54 PM ^
that all the coaches will be named between now and September. If they're not then that will be quite an interesting strategy played by Mr. Hoke and company.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:01 PM ^
interesting strategy Cotton. I hope it works out for them....

'thank YOU Chuck Norris...'

Michigan fans -- do not expect Iowa WR coach Erik Campbell to return to his alma mater as part of Hoke's staff. Per source. #Michigan
We can forget about Soup Campbell going to Michigan as a WR coach.

Since the defense can't get much worse, i heard the players were calling their own plays and setting up their own formations. I for one will be interested to see how this plays out, and I think this has to be a great draw to recruits.
Any legs to this rumor??
January 16th, 2011 at 8:00 PM ^
it's been 4 days since brady hoke was introduced as head coach. This stuff doesn't happen over night. i'm sure they're considering multiple candidates for each opening. this requires interviewing each of them, and working out any other details - such as when they would be able to start, if they are under previous contracts, etc.
i'm sure they'd love to 'update' all of us on their progress, but let's be realistic. do you expect them to come out and say 'well so far we have interviewed 'X', 'Y' and 'Z'.. and then tomorrow we're going to extend an offer to 'Y'. If he doesnt accept, we'll offer the position to 'X'"... of course not. if they did come out and give us a vague 'update' on their status, we would all be complaining that we don't have enough info. So let's just sit back, relax, and let them take their time to choose the right candidate. I'm sure we'll hear something by Monday or Tuesday.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:07 PM ^
They don't really have any time though. How do you sell a kid on Michigan if there's no one even hired to coach his position? If you made this post 3 weeks ago I'd agree 100%, there's simply no time now.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:16 PM ^
So what should Hoke do? Panic and hire EMU's staff to fill the gaps?
Give him time to fill out the rest of his staff as he sees fit. If a kid is so impatient that he can't wait 48 hours to find out, so be it.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:20 PM ^
That is the problem. These recruits are more impatient than I am. You would think after committing to Michigan they might wait a minute before committing elsewhere to talk with the new staff but so far it has not always been the case.
January 16th, 2011 at 9:23 PM ^
hiring a DC is a long-term decision.. yes it would suck to lose a couple recruits because we didn't have a DC within 4 days of hiring our HC, but if we rush and pick a shotty DC, then we'll be set back a lot more in the long term than losing a couple recruits.
January 16th, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
I agree if we can bring in a big name and well respected DC, then I retract all prior statements. If we do this, it will off set the delay and should ramp up recruits interest. God willing let one of these recruits be a giant D-lineman.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
Considering how bad our defense has been, it would probably be wise to take as much time as necessary to find an exceptional hire. Yes, unerstandably, the sooner the better for recruiting purposes, but I would try to be at least a little patient.

Maybe Hoke and Brandon are eyeing someone who is currently in the NFL and still in the playoffs. Trogvac, Jon Hoke etc. I'm assuming none of these guys can accept another job and get on the recruiting trail with a divisional championship coming up this weekend... They might have to look elsewhere
January 16th, 2011 at 8:27 PM ^
Well, now Corwin Brown is available, seeing as how the Patriots lost. It'd be nice to get him recruiting FOR Michigan.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
My sources told me we were waiting for certain NFL coaches to be done with their seasons.
Hopefully Belichick is introduced as our assistant coach in charge of making all things good again.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:27 PM ^
Hello Corwin Brown? Yes Please
January 16th, 2011 at 8:34 PM ^
Why? Florida didn't wait on Weis.
January 16th, 2011 at 8:40 PM ^
Yeah, and look at how the Chiefs' season turned out.
Seems to me that Michigan has no interest in publicly announcing things (such as hires) that can be distractions to teams with ongoing seasons. There is an element of honor and character in that approach, you know. That "Michigan Difference" always referenced on this site.
January 16th, 2011 at 9:52 PM ^
Just like the hiring of Rich, huh?
