Is RR still in Michigan?
In a non-stalker sense I'm curious what a fired coach does. His family must have made friends there over the last 3 years, and his kid(s) are in school so what does a coach do? I would think that going back to WV isn't an option since the people there loathed him and I think there would be more bitter whackos than in AA.
Just curious, does anyone know?

Hopefully he is shopping for a new home, near his new school, with a great weight lifted off of his shoulders. Not a proud period these last couple months for UM athletics.

It may not have worked out with the football program, but he did not dump on Ann Arbor. From the information available he was very active fundraising and visiting children at C.S. Mott Children's hospital. If anything he seemed to donate of his time to make Ann Arbor a better place.

He is apparently not going to be coaching in 2011, and there’s no point in moving until he knows where he’ll ultimately be.
Sure, it’s awkward to hang around in the town where you got fired, most people seem to like Rodriguez and his family personally, whatever they may have thought of his coaching. I don’t think he’ll get hassled, and it’s probably better to let the kids finish the school year.
Besides, where else is he going to go? He caught a lot of grief when he left West Virginia. I can’t imagine that moving back there temporarily would be any better than just staying where he is until he gets a new position.

Agree. His assistants are finding work elsewhere, so it appears that he will be taking at least a year off.
Would be interesting to see what sort of staff he has in the future, once he finds the best fit.

He owns a house in South Carolina where his family spends vacations. He could easily move there if he wanted to... unless he thinks his kids need to stay in the same school for another year. I have no idea how old Rhett and Raquel are, but it would probably make no sense to have them spend one school year in South Carolina and then move to Boston College or wherever RR is going to be next year.

If I was in that position, I'd still have two kids in school and friends in the area so "going somewhere warm" would only mean taking my wife on a vacation.

I hate it when the kids get pulled into the situation. I was NOT a fan of Weis, but I felt for him when he said his son was getting picked on at school. They are kids; they have nothing to do with one's coaching ability.

One of the biggest fears I had about the whole coaching change fiasco was having his kids dragged into the fray. I mentioned it once and basically was "told" that the kids will be fine since Rodriguez is getting $2.5 million. People are not nice and what happens? Little kids get hurt in the process. Its really, really sad and people should have some compassion, even ones that wanted Rodriguez out.

UConn just hired Pasqualoni so that job's out. Pitt has their coach and poached Calvin Magee and Tony Gibson from RR. Probably too close to signing day for him to find and start a new job now.
So I assume he takes a year off and tries to forget the mess he endured in Ann Arbor. Where does he end up next? Which coaches are on the proverbial hot seat in 2011? What programs are potentially better "fits" for him than U-M turned out to be?

I hope not... GaTech is my favorite ACC team... and I don't want to have to root against them. Wherever RR lands, that'll (in all likelihood) be my 2nd favorite team to watch.

Dabo Swinney just hired the OC from Tulsa, Chad Morris. Besides, is Rich Rod's rep really so damaged by the UM experience that he'd have to take a coordinator job before getting another shot at a HC position? I doubt it.

Clemson and Georgia figure to be the big jobs open next year, both are good fits (though Clemson is much better). He could always shock people and wind up somewhere more interesting, but I think if one of those two wants him he will be there.

He's set financially. After the high stress he went through the last 3 years, he probably needs to decompress. Maybe he'd consider an HC position in the FCS or division II in the future? RR definitely loves to coach though and probably will be back in the picture 2012.

He will coach D1 at a mid to high level program (i.e. Clemson, Arizona St type school) in the future. At least thats where I see him ending up.

$1 mill or so, he had to pay for his own lawyers in the ncaa violation to defend the claim of "failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance within the football program" at UM and will have to do it again for the WVU ncaa case, he is on some kind of ncaa probation and probably considered tainted by all major D1 schools, he still is being sued for some bad real estate deal or ponzi scheme, he is hated in his home state of WV, hated in Michigan. I hope he sees better days in the future.

Sad story for you guys:
I am good friends with a teacher at Saline HS and the kids of RR and his staff that go to Saline are being insulted and bullied by other kids because of how RR got fired and his poor record at Michigan. It has gotten so bad that some of the coaches kids had to go home because they were being physically threatened and were crying because of the berating.
I know kids are kids and Michigan kids are probably not much different than WV kids, but this just broke my heart. I thought we could be above all of that crap. RR and his staff tried their hardest and their kids don't deserve the disrespect nor abuse that they are receiving.
I wish RR, his staff, and their families the best. If I saw them around A2 I would wish them well and tell them I'm still "All In" for Michigan and wherever his future takes him.
