Wow. Some of us questioned the possible UM hire of the 57 year old Les Miles. According to the cited article, Pasqualoni is 61. Hope they get a succession plan ready quickly.

Not a lot of imagination there.  Pasqualoni is 61.  The guy should probably still be coaching at Syracuse, though (and in that alternative universe, maybe RR gets luckier with a DC and we're still celebrating a Rose Bowl win over TCU).

It's a safe hire by UConn. If nothing else, Pasqualoni was a solid coach who won big with McNabb as his QB. He also won in a much tougher Big East when BC, VT, and Miami were still a part of it. It probably is a short term hire, and I'm sure his staff will include a young, hungry coordinator looking to become a head coach again.

Then again, how attractive of a job is UConn?

Coach P should have been fired from Syracuse, but this is a very uninspired hire.  Then again, Coach P has some more NFL experience, so we'll see what happens.  I don't know if there was any interest one way and/or the other, but UConn should have seriously looked at RR.

As a UConn Student (I wasn't accepted into UM) and one who helps in the equipment room, but paints on gameday and gets on ESPN for football and basketball, this move upsets me.

I was really hoping UConn could hire a big name coach such as Coach Rodriguez, but I guess not. Oh well, UConn is second on the list of my teams anyways.

There are funny things going on at UCONN.  Many here are not happy with the hire.  Many thought Whipple was going to land the job, but there were issues related to staff turnover, and Whipple was not going to be allowed to bring in his own guys.

Believe me, UCONN fans would be thrilled with a DB type AD right now.
