They hated Crowton because he took Russell Shepard -- a QB that Rich Rodriguez wanted more than he wanted Denard Robinson -- and turned him into a wide receiver who never gets the ball, took Jordan Jefferson and turned him into a running QB even though he's not actually fast -- and even though they had Russell Shepard ON THE SAME TEAM -- and kept running Jarrett Lee out at QB even after he threw like 15 pick 6s.

Miles' sins are high misdemeanors. Crowton's were capital offenses.

LSU fans consider Miles > Crowton

the joke on tigerdroppings was that they were happy Miles was going to go to Michigan except if he were to leave Crowton to coach LSU, thus creating the impossible: a situation worse than Miles as HC and Crowton as OC.

trust me. you're off base on this one.

I live in Louisiana and most of my friends around here are die-hard LSU fans. Most of them didn't like Les because of his poor clock management skills and because they felt like the offense was underperforming. They all absolutely hated Gary Crowton. Most of them admitted that Les was a great recruiter, but they felt like the negatives in clock management and offense outweighed the positives.

I've talked to some of my friends in the last couple of days, and they're all really happy that Crowton is gone. A lot of them who were screaming "Fire Les Miles" all season are actually happy that Les stayed and Crowton is gone. They're excited to see what happens at LSU with a new coordinator and they're willing to give Les another chance, but he's still on a short leash in their minds.

I'm saying that most LSU fans who were screaming "Fire Les" all year are willing to give him another chance, but he's on a short leash in their minds. I don't think he's on a short leash in terms of job security at all.

Read [this] and tell me he wasn't offered the job. DB didn't want whoever got hired to think that they were Plan D (among many other reasons on the coach's end as well like recruiting, fans, ect.) so he is using the scapegoat of "well noone was offered the job except Brady".

Read that article and tell me Les couldn't have became Michigan's coach Tuesday morning if he made the decision to do so.

Read the ESPN article entitled "Les Miles agrees to new seven year contract" (tried to link but failed epically) and tell me he wasn't offered the job. was making 400k in 09 at LSU. MD is as cheap as anyone, paying Edsall 1.3mil. I doubt crowton makes more than 400k. Tony Franklin, the old HCIW, was making 300k base, bonuses/escalators of being the HCIW brought him to 475 but they don't need to pay Crowton anymore than LSU was (which was dick compared to their SEC counterparts). You don't take demotions because you are killing it. LSU fans are rejoicing.

didn't want a "No-Cut" guarantee from DB. Seven more years at LSU takes him to age 65. The last Miles "contract" after 2007 season ('08) .. Miles reportedly wanted a "8 win season" clause that would prohibit LSU from firing him as long as he won 8 games. So DB may have seen that Miles was more about himself than Michigan .... which maybe is why DB never made Miles an offer.

You really think if Miles said "I'll take 3.5 a year for 5 years, done deal" Dave Brandon would have said "Woah woah woah, I've got Brady Hoke over here willing to work for fritos, let's talk numbers!". Come on, "no offer" in this instance has to mean that they didn't come to a place in that discussion where an offer made sense. "I will need 5 mill and an escalator to be the highest paid coach in the country" would be a good place for Brandon to say..."OK, I don't think I am going to offer". You think DB said "meh BCS championship, SEC championships, phenominal recruiting ties, proven success in the toughest conference...wait a second, do you still know The Victors?" and didn't make an offer?

Get real, no offer doesn't mean DB didn't WANT to offer. He's smart enough not to make offers he knows will be turned down (whether it be $$$, years, clauses etc).

Oh right, tell me you really don't believe the whole "I only looked at Hoke" bullsh*t. I mean we know he looked at Pinkel and Fitzgerald....so I guess he only looked at those 3, and conveniently overlooked Miles and Harbaugh?

There are plenty of reasons to beproud to be a UM alum, but being self-righteous and blind about who our coach is and is not is not one of them.

DB never offered Miles the position, and never will.I think he realized the first time Les opened his mouth that he was in it for the money, and for all the wrong reasons.Yes initially there was interest but that was short-lived. In case you've been in a cave the last 2 weeks here is what you missed.JH met with DB and told him he'd help with the search but wasn't to be considered because he was headed to the NFL.DB met with LM and realized he wasn't the same guy he knew years ago,and would be in it for all the wrong reasons(especially the money). And then BH was offered and accepted. There you are, two weeks in a nutshell.Do your homework Tater.
