Background Information

First video is early 2008. Interview with SDSU athletics department.

Pump up video at the beginning of Hoke's first season. If you don't come away wanting to punch a sack of kittens and have an odd urge to joing the communist army because of the music, then you aren't alive.

So awesome. This needs to become a sticky. I want to come back here and watch all of these videos to see what might be in store for us later.

Is the movie the song int he pump up video comes from.  I think it's a great movie, really creepy in a good way.  If you've never seen it, I highly reccomend it.  Just don't watch it alone, late at night, like I did.  I also really like the song, it's on my iPod, in fact.

Awesome thread and an excellent resource for the rest of us to get acquainted with our new coach.

I was especially impressed with the win over Navy - holding the triple option to 14 points with the talent level at SDSU is jaw-dropping.   (Dropping 35 points on TCU's defense is icing on the cake.)

Defensive coordinators who can defend the option are hard to find.  Just ask Notre Dame.

I was thoroughly impressed by the combination of speed and power in that team. The QB didn't look very moblie, but Hiller(?) #13 was their go to man a lot of plays. #80 WR was a freak among boys at times as well in the highlights. (Reminded me of Hemingway) If Hoke and Borges orient the offense they had at SDSU on Denard instead of a HB, then I look forward to Denard flying all over the place. If they also hire a good QB coach to work on throwing fundamentals, we could be looking at a potentially dangerous offense. Add some strength and we can still have a spread, but Auburn styled.

I also am convinced by these videos that the way to go is with defense that is aggressive. I think of the aggressive styles of NY Jets, TCU, and SDSU and it seems to be a little more high risk/high reward. Last year I felt we sat back and waited for the play to develop and come to us to defend it. An aggresive defense with Hoke stressing on fundamentals (tackling, pursuit angles, etc) could be a good combo for the talent we have on the team. We are already fast, now add some strength with an aggresive multiple look defense, and we may have something.

Man , so far I like the guy but he sure does talk about touching kids a lot .

There has to be a better way to say it...reaching out to kids?

On a good note I like what he said earlier about being " A players coach" makes you sound soft. That was a good comment.

Great job hackney. Since I have access to a massive amounts of highlights from SDSU football. Mostly HD ground shots. If I have a slow day at work, I may take some time to upload some interesting stuff (different offensive formations, base defenses, etc.)

Can't guarantee it though.

Can we have that freshman RB Hillman? WOW! He is pretty special. I just hope one of our plutheroa of backs develops into something like that. Oh wait, we have Denard, he can run and throw AND his helmet has wings!

But in all seriousness, that RB was good and it'd be nice to establish a back like that here at UM.

When I watched the bowl game this year against Navy, I noticed this team played their hearts out.  It always seemed like they just kept coming after you and didn't have no remorse about it.

I am hoping we land the right DC that will come in here and be more aggresive than what we have seen in the past.  I would personally like to see a 4 man front like when Brady was here before.

Can you imagine putting Quinton Washington, Richard Ash, Big Will(back to D),  Talbott, and Martin at DT?  Then seeing the speed of Death Roh, Black, Wilkins and RVB coming around the ends!  I can see good things coming from this front 4.
