As if we didn't have enough to cry about right now:

He's got until January 25 to enroll but has not done so yet. Does this mean he's on his way out, or is he slacking on picking his classes, or what?

but i'm pretty sure it's not that he couldn't.  i.e. he made his choice about whether or not he wanted to be here.  personally i assumed Rod was like 70% fired as soon as i heard about Tate.

What a ridiculous perspective.  As of yesterday, Tate's got a much better chance of playing than he did a month ago, and you're calling him a round peg?

Let's learn a little bit more about the 'square hold,' and hope all of the players are doing the same.

UPDATE:

DB just reiterated at the press conference that "Tate is not with the program."  He's basically saying no change since the bowl game.

If Tate wants to transfer, I wish him the best.  If he can't handle the academic workload, that's too bad.  We are more than fine at the QB position if Denard comes back.  However, if he comes back he has my full support.

He is gone. The rumor right after his being declared academically ineligible was that he was transferring to U of Montana to get a shot at starting. Neither RR or BH had anything to do with this.

It's my understanding that people have three strikes in terms of academics. First strike is academic probation, second strike you have to take a semester off, and the third strike means you are done. He acknowledged that he struggled the first year and with his recent struggles this past semester,  I would guess he is on the second strike. With the NCAA progress rules, I'd guess he is gone.

No, I have failed NCAA students--in my non-top150 college. If they are academically dismissed they still can come back after a semester or after community college.

Even a dismissal for academic integrity (plagiarism or cheating third offense) is only a one year NCAA suspension.

Tate blew it. He really could have had a decent college career if he would have selected a less prestegious university to play for. He had grade issues in high school its a wonder he made it through his freshman year.

Hope Denard does not bale.  If so, we will be looking at a 2008 offense again.  PLEASE NO!  I COULD NOT SURVIVE THAT AGAIN.
