Michigan Football as The Sopranos, Season 6, Part 2

Submitted by lexus larry on

Much as it pains me to have read Brian suggest that LC was some sort of nefarious kingmaker, lurking in the shadows, given that within minutes of the Hoke announcement LC tweeted his approval of this hiring, it dawned on me that the football admin within the athletic department resembled The Sopranos more than just a little...

Semi-lucid Uncle Junior - LC

Tony Soprano - RR

Bobby Bacala - Hoke (C'mon, people!  He even looks like Bobby Bacala!)

Silvio Dante - DB

Carmela - Miss Rita

Any suggestions for Meadow Soprano are welcome.

Seriously, though.  Michigan football seriously resembles a crime family...lifetime commitment, trust no one from the outside, tear down all other trains of thought, etc.

I'm no Misopogon, so I can't do all the colorful wordsmithing or attaching the nifty pics with photoshops, but the theme seems too close to reality.  Maybe too close...

Coach Hoke will put together a ‘damn strong team’, will play ‘hard-baugh’ defensively, will ‘raise up’ recruiting talent and will play offense with a ‘hard-edge irregardless’ when he’s either running a pro-style or some spread formations. I think we have all three aspects of the two other coaching candidates, including the former coach, all in one with Brady. Better yet, he could kick all three of their butts at once while sticking their faces in the dirt and making them eat ‘grass’ because he is Brady ‘Soprano’ Hoke! Keep the faith, Go Blue, Hail, Hail … Support our new head coach!

Nice metaphor....hopefully Misopogon catches wind of this and steps up on this....

I don't know if Brandon was always in line with the rest of the rank and file alum who never bought into Coach Rodriguez or if he was gradually pulled to the place he is now, but this whole episode has made me question the strength of his pimp hand.

I'm low this morning....so low.

Too funny. I was just saying last night how I thought Hoke resembled Pussy from the Sopranos. Now that you say it, though, he definitely looks like Bobby.
