Santa Ana is an hour and a half from San Diego. There was a flight from Santa Ana to Scottsdale the other day when Brandon was in Scottsdale FWIW.

Well so much for "Brandon wouldn't return to AA unless the deal was sealed." I hope he liked taking the night off last night! Not like he had anything better to do!

I remember cringing when I heard RR field those "not the first choice" questions at his first presser. I do not look forward to hearing them yet again.

Have we not learned to wait it out? The reason everyone is angry right now is because we jump the gun and get our hopes up. How about we let Brandon do his job and after he's done, form our opinions for once?

The problem I have with DB right now is not whether we get a certain coach or not, but the damn process of it. Perception is reality at this point, and whether we are or not, we look as if we are floundering. And everyone, including recruits, can see it. This is a valid criticism that I feel we can level on DB right now. Part of his job is to get out in front of this kind of stuff so we look like we know what we are doing.

What we "look like" to people who have no clue what is *actually happening* is irrelevant. If we get a good coach thursday, nobody's going to give a shit that we were bummed out tuesday. We all can see about 5% of what's going on, that we haven't hired someone is not necessarily evidence that things are going wrong. The self righteous presumptions are getting out of hand.

It is the fans and the members of the team whose opinions have an effect on the state of the program if we go into this hire bitching and complaining then recruits and media will notice. We need to support whomever them Athletic director hires. PERIOD. Even if its the last choice.

If we get a good coach, it will mitigate some of the bumbling, but not all of it. We can still end up looking stupid to recruits, which is the life blood of any. But what if we bumble and bumble all the way to Hoke? Is he a "good" enough coach to mitigate the bumbling? The only way this ends up not mattering is if we're in the top 10 in a few years. But we're digging ourselves quite a hole.

Retweeting that Hoke is in negotiations and this will be done quickly. If true, I'm disappointed. If Hoke was the aim, why didn't DB just do it? I can't believe he truly felt a need to placate fans by making it seem like Miles turned us down and Harbaugh was off the table at his presser. Could have had our lives for the past week, even if we spent that week moaning about the hire. It's not like we're not going to moan for the next week, month, year anyway.

If it's Hoke then that's what it is. Why did he wait? If he really tried for the others and they said no it makes me wonder how screwed we really are. Now if Hoke is the guy theres no way he is worth the 5 million that has been thrown out there for the big names. Another somber point is our recuiting class might be doomed this year. I love Michigan but this is a low point that I never thought I would go through.

I know why DB waited! Sure, he could have fired RR in November and hired Hoke the same day, but he knew how many people would be underwhelmed by the choice. He had a stated goal of uniting the family, and by delaying 7 weeks and damaging our recruiting efforts, he has done so. We are now a united family - furious at DB for dicking around needlessly. Go blue!
