my shot at 2009 depth

Forgive me if for some this topic is either premature, or already worn out. For me, I like thinking about how we'll put the chess pieces on the board. Here is my expectation, formatted in terms of "fixed" positions that are likely to remain constant and "flex" positions that may or may not be on the field play-to-play based on formation or scheme.
Offense 7 fixed positions: QB: 1. Forcier/Robinson (70/30), 2. Sheridan, 3. Feagin, Apocalypse RB: 1. Minor, 2a. Brown/Shaw/V. Smith, 2b. Grady/Cox LT: Ortmann LG: Schilling C: Molk RG: Moosman RT: Omameh/Dorrestein/Barnum Remaining 4 some combination of: WR1: 1. Matthews/Hemingway, 2. Savoy/Rogers WR2: 1. Stonum, 2. Stokes, 3. Rogers/Roundtree Slot (1 to 2): 1a. Odoms, 1b. T. Robinson, 3. Gallon/Stokes FB: 1. Moundros TE: 1. Koger, 2. Webb Defense 9 Fixed: DE1: Graham DT1: Martin DE2: Van Bergen LB1: Mouton LB2: Ezeh CB: Warren CB: Cissoko SS: B. Smith FS: M. Williams Remaining 2 some combination of: DE/LB: Evans/Herron/Watson/LaLota DT2: Campbell/Patterson/Segasse LB3: Fitzgerald/Demens LB/S: S. Brown Nickel: Woolfolk/J. Turner **Another way of looking at D; likely front seven combinations: 3-4 -- [Graham, Martin, Van Bergen] + [Mouton, Ezeh, Fitzgerald/Demens, S. Brown]

4-3 -- [Graham, Martin, Campbell/Patterson/Segasse, Ven Bergen] + [Mouton, Ezeh, Fitz/Demens/Brown] And..

Just for kicks, if we took the field tomorrow-- First play offense: QB: Forcier LT - RT: Ortmann, Schilling, Molk, Moosman, Dorrestein RB: Minor TE: Koger WR: Matthews WR: Stonum Sl: Odoms First play defense: DE: Graham DT: Martin DE: Van Bergen OLB: Mouton MLB: Ezeh OLB: Fitzgerald S/LB: S. Brown CB: Warren SS: B. Smith FS: M. Williams CB: Cissoko

I think if they played tomorrow that Matthews and Hemmingway would start. I think Stonum is the top back-up at outside WR. What is impossible to predict is KR and PR.

I'm going out for kicker/punter in the fall. Run the 40 in 5 seconds even. 6"1 173 lbs. 23 years old with no years of wasted eligibility...Think I got a shot?

Every single one of my preseason predections was shot down with the previous posts. Vlad, Woolfolk, Huyge starting? Stonum, Omameh not? ...Wild. I think the one thing that seems to be sure coming out of spring ball is that there is legitimate competition at nearly every position. Personally, I think this is a fantastic development. No worries Michigan fans, we're coming back this year.

I really want to see what this Apocalypse kid has to bring to the table. I think he can make it rain...fire and brimstone, that is.

Who's going to kick? Gibbons? Wright(Hope not.) or someone else? Kind of seems like we won't really know until right before the season.. Just wondering what everyone was thinking about it.

Omameh is in my calc class so I talk with him every couple of days. He's pretty humble but from what I can tell he's got a bit of confidence about starting. I hope he does because he's a nice kid who is really smart.
