Don't think we will hear anything but rumor until tomorow. Wouldn't be surprised if Brandon was not on plane and it was sent to pick up Miles and bring him to Dallas for meeting/convention tomorrow.

Interesting if he does travel Michigan Air to Dallas.

That this is all just smoke and mirrors and they have some other unknown candidate that we've never even mentioned stored away in a basement in Schembechler Hall reading the history of Michigan football in preparation for a press conference? This all feels too...predictable and easy to read into if you ask me.

I have the same feeling.  I have a feeling the "unknown candidate" has been Brady Hoke all along.  They are making it seem as if they are conducting some big search, to satisfy the masses, when they know it will be Hoke regardless.  If Lloyd still has a say in the matter, I guarantee you it won't be Miles and it will be Hoke, which is a damn shame.

If he had hired Brady Hoke the day after Rodriguez was fired, people would have been more incensed that Brandon didn't go after anyone else.  At least this way he could pretend he tried.

At the same time, I have to continue believing Brandon is not dumb enough to fire Rodriguez in the haphazard way he did only to bring Hokeamania back to Ann Arbor.  It is too big a clusterfuck from a PR and a football perspective for me to think it is a viable option.

Brandon is going to fly all over the country just to trick us into thinking that Brady Hoke was not Plan A all along?  Take a break from this until the announcement.  It still could be Hoke by default because Hoke may be the only one interested in the job and not just using it to get a huge pay day from Status Quo U, but do you really think that Brandon is going to make Hoke choice A to the extent that jets would be flying around the country to throw us off the scent?

A clear goal for Brandon is building / rebuilding consensus. I think the Miles interview is a way to say "we talked to him", and for Les to walk away looking great for LSU.

If we think Wednesday is "the day", why have there been no rumors at all about Hoke talking to Brandon? Time's running short if it's Brady. Unless of course it's Gruden, and the waiting is until after the BCS Championship so Jon can fulfill his obligations to ESPN.

Does anybody know where Gerry Faust lives?

Very interesting. The head of tigerbait.com was just on the huge radio show an hour ago and said that his sources have told him that Miles is only meeting with Michigan out of respect for his alma mater and negotiated a new contract with LSU that he expects Les to sign tonight or tomorrow am. I hope hes wrong!

If that's the case (and the video of Les Miles telling the media he was meeting with Brandon did make it seem like he was doing it under duress), that's complete bullshit - please don't waste our time. Also, the tone of the LSU AD in his statement (per Andelique's tweet) sounded like he felt sorry for us. DB needs to come out of this with a victory because we are starting to publicly look like a lame-ass program that has to beg people to come here. Whether you want it to be true or not, the media is way more powerful than you think. Every word written by every blogger, every comment made, shapes the perception of us. It's a different ballgame now that the main stream media is a bit player. I hope he gets that.

When you give a nationally respected and successful coach only three years before you fire him then that is exactly what you get.

I just don't think that is what is going on here.  I just don't think we're going after Miles.  Even his deer in the headlights press conference comments seem to indicate nobody has actually contacted him but he read online that there is supposed to be a meeting.  He appears to be even more out of the loop than the press.

So you think Miles is going to a meeting that he only knows about because he read about it online?  The coaching search done fucked with your head, PS.  If there was a "deer in the headlights" look on Miles' face it's probably because a) the man knew he had to choose his words carefully; and b) choosing words carefully is not an easy thing for Leslie Miles to do.

First off I'm not all that sure there is a meeting taking place.  Again, just my bullshit speculation though.

My view is that if Miles was the guy he wouldn't have to choose his words.  We would have approached him quietly days/weeks ago and the first news would be him announcing a press conference to say "I'm leaving LSU to come to Michigan."  To have Brandon's cone of silence breached by this bumbling press conference just doesn't jive with how things have gone for me.

Could be way off and obviously I have been driven completely insane by this process.  Just how I'm seeing it.  I'm cool with Miles as the hire, it just doesn't feel right to me from a "How I think this would go down" perspective.

You're ignoring reality, to a degree.  He couldn't avoid the questions.  When he's appeared in public, it's either been associated with the Cotton Bowl or today, at the press conference announcing the NFL intentions of his star player.  He needed to be at each place and attempted to chose his words carefully.  To me, it seemed like he was very careful with his words because he didn't want his statements to be thrown back in his face, a week later, if he takes the job.  Not that Nick Saban cares, but that's where a lot of the animosity towards him began.

If Miles was the guy, DB would've/should've have had the deal in place before these awkward moments popped up.  If he's just now realized, "Hey, it might be a good idea to call that guy who went to Michigan and wins loads of games in the SEC" then I would question his judgment.  At most you have the awkwardness at the game but the announcement comes over the weekend before he's back doing public appearances with his players today.

I think the carefulness comes because Miles also doesn't want to rule out Michigan (a job I think he'd be very interested in if it were offered).  After last time when he wasn't called I just have a heard time buying that this is how it would go down.  Of course, like I said, this is just a gut guesstimate based on absolutely nothing concrete and fueled by 8 million Cherry Coke Zeros and little sleep the last week or so as this madness unfolds.

How often can that plane fly to Baton Rouge, and why does Les say the meeting hasn't happened yet? WTF else is the plane doing there, repeatedly?

I wish we could get someone to just take video of who gets on and off the plane.
