MGoBlog heavily cited on ESPN's insider

Submitted by JeepinBen on

Just something that's pretty cool... this is a snippet of ESPN's "Insider" coverage on the Michigan Coaching Situation:

3) The Michigan-bedecked plane that was in Baton Rouge for about two hours on Friday morning has since made several trips to Hilton Head -- where, according to MGoBlog.com, Lloyd Carr has a vacation home. The Carr faction is believed to be backing Hoke. 4) MGoBlog also hears from its own sources that Michigan did indeed interview Jon Gruden on Saturday, although Gruden is in Arizona working the BCS title game for ESPN Radio so it's unclear where a meeting would have taken place.

The full "insider" article can be found here: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/features/rumors, i didn't want to copy/paste more than where MGoBlog is mentioned for fear of violating the premium info policy.

Congrats to Brian and everyone else who runs the blog, I know TomVH was quoted heavily regarding recruits on all kinds of MSM venues, congrats guys.

i got in on a few of these, and probably have a subscription for the next decade.  The insider rumors are terrible for College Football. Albert Lin is as useless as Chris Martin.

Brian runs the raddest site around, but this should be more of an indictment of ESPN and an indication that they aren't worth the money rather than grounds for praising mgoblog.

Why are we discussing the current coaching situation with LC? I understand he was a "Michigan Man" and our last succesful coach but why do we need to convince him of the hire whoever it is?

Agreed that is what I meant in my previous post in this thread. We need the people who are close to the Michigan program to all get behind this new HC who ever it ends up being so we can hopefully unite the fan base and give the HC the support he needs to turn this great program around.

Hey! RR is gone, lets all get together!

Except for the ones that were promoting some other agenda. I suspect we can go to the Pic-A-Faction Rack as soon as a coach is selected and choose our new factions according to our view of the world. Said view probably won't match the true reason for the existence of any given faction, but it will make us feel better, each and every one.

I wonder how this teams view of the world and Michigan will differ from teams gone before. Not important? Each and every member of this team will influence incoming teammates on a peer-to-peer level.

Yeah, look at all those negs. Well, the article is out. Go ask Denard, or Molk, or Schilling, or Martin how they feel about being torpedoed by former players who want a return to their glory days. I suggest we retire the banner, because we will be perpetuating the lie every time the team runs under it.

in Hilton Head and Lloyd Carr has a vacation home there does not mean LC is involved.  I fully respect the rights of us on MGo to make some guesses but it is even funnier when the media bites.  Keep it up everyone.

so sad.  this is what the Internet does, renders info useless.  who can tell what is real info and what is garbage.  I am reminded of the NYer cartoon, where a dog sitting at a keyboard is saying to another dog..."On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog".

so our unsubstantiateed speculation is now getting reported to paying ESPN INsiders as if it has merit?

that maybe all these planes with their fancy paint jobs and rumors of LC running a Bed and Breakfast are all an elaborate shell game in advance of some sort of bombshell coaching announcement? In my scenario,  DB asked LC and Steven Ross to play along, and now he cackles with glee every time ESPN swings and misses, "Dance Minions! Make Michigan the top story every night, not the MNC game"

or am I having paranoid delusions of grandeur?

Yah, I thought the same thing.  In fact, I laughed out loud when I read that we were citing our own sources and that were definitley interviewed him.  Good to see the rumors haven't slowed down one bit.  With this Stoops post up on the board, ESPN must be giddy that they get to introduce another ludicrous interview to the world.

Lloyd Carr comes out of retirement for a three-year contract, Brady Hoke comes in as DC and coach-in-waiting, Loeffler is OC, and Fred Jackson resumes calling each new freshman RB "the perfect combination of Wheatley, Biakabatuka, and Hart."

The bluehairs will be enormously comforted by the knowledge that each night, LC sits by the fire reading Kipling.

The only downside is that Mike Debord will be the new strength coach.

Absolutely agree.  Lloyd has done a lot for us and let's remember the good.  Until someone has something solid about what Lloyd has done to harm the program, I just want to remember the good times.  He was a great man for his players.
