No interviews Today

Submitted by trickydick81 on

Michigan did not do interviews today according to this: http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2011/01/michigan_not_commenting_on_po….

Making me think that I worried a lot and pressed f5 a lot for a whole lot of nothing...

And also that Les is the guy because he has the 24 hour notice clause in his contract (http://i.usatoday.net/sports/graphics/2009/coaches-contracts/pdf/miles_…) (page 9 clause 12c). Why else wouldn't they do interviews today?

If it was stopping things from happening I think Brandon would have said something.  It also looks like there are exceptions if you just say you had to make the hire quickly or lose out on the candidate.  On top of that, what are they going to do if the law is violated?  Throw Brandon in jail?  Give him a fine that doesn't come close to matching the millions involved in this kind of deal?

I just don't see that being an issue.

understand that UM probably can't hire anyone until Wednesday or has that whole job has to be posted for a week thing been debunked?

I haven't seen anyone come up with evidence there is a state law on this. Michigan does have a seven-day posting policy but also allows for a "posting waiver" in certain circumstances. The policy is included in this HR document. By the way, the job was briefly posted online on Friday--not Wednesday--and so the posting period given with the job was 1/7-1/14.
